电影海报《飞屋环游记》是2009年皮克斯动画工作室第十部动画电影及首部3D电影。影片讲述的是78岁的卡尔老先生，为了信守对爱妻的承诺，决心带着他与妻子艾利共同打造的房屋一飞冲天的动人故事。另有同名图书和游戏。

故事开始时，小男孩卡尔·费迪逊(Carl Fredrickson)正聚精会神地看着新闻影片，著名探险家查尔斯·蒙兹(Charles Muntz)和他的爱狗们刚刚乘坐热气球从南美探险归来，蒙兹宣布发现了新物种，但科学家们不信，称他是个骗子，蒙兹名誉扫地。不过小卡尔对蒙兹的经历深信不疑，对他的话句句在心，尤其是他那句“探险就在前方”(Adventure is out there)更被小卡尔当作至理名言，他也想像蒙兹一样成为伟大的探险家。
画面一转，小卡尔牵着气球走在回家的路上，当他路过一个无人居住的房子前时，传来了另一个孩子的声音，这是个假小子性格的女孩，叫艾丽(Ellie) ，她也同样迷恋蒙兹的探险故事，喋喋不休的艾丽拿屋子顶上的风向标当操纵杆，把整个屋子当成一艘大飞船，竭力说服不知所措的卡尔加入她的计划，坐着“飞屋”冒险。当然两个孩子并没能飞起来，而是摔了下来。不过卡尔和艾丽就此结识。随后的时间，镜头为我们展现了他们俩长大、结婚、在一起生活的蒙太奇片段，艾丽做了动物园管理员，卡尔则弄了个车专门卖氦气球。两人一辈子都梦想着到蒙兹提到的南美洲“仙境瀑布”(Paradise Falls)去探险，但他们始终都疲于为生活而奔波。直到艾丽病逝，这个愿望也没能实现。
艾丽去世以后，卡尔变得孤僻起来，不愿与人接触。但更糟糕的是，他的屋子正好处在政府计划开发的地皮上，这里即将建造一幢摩天大楼。不愿搬离这里的卡尔成了一个“钉子户”，政府派人来准备将他送到养老院，不过就在那些人来之前，卡尔作出决定，带着屋子一起离开这里，前往南美，去实现妻子和他共同的梦想！
于是我们就看到了预告片里那经典的一幕，五颜六色的气球拽着一整幢房子飞向了空中。飞屋在空中俯瞰大地的画面十分漂亮（这也正是激发导演创作这部影片的初始灵感）。
不过老卡尔没想到的是，他的飞屋上搭乘了一个“偷渡客”——8岁亚裔小男孩小罗(Russell) ，这个过度乐观的小男孩喜欢快速的说个不停，他参加了野外探险者协会，为了成为高级会员，正需要集齐最后一枚徽章——帮助老人徽章。不幸的是他挑选的帮助目标是脾气古怪的卡尔，卡尔讨厌这个老跟着自己的小胖墩。
卡尔想了很多种把这个讨厌的小孩从飞屋丢下去的方法。但在他付诸实施之前，飞屋飞进了一个风暴云团，艾丽的很多遗物掉下去了，卡尔手忙脚乱的保护这些东西……卡尔醒来之后，“偷渡客”小罗告诉仙境瀑布卡尔，他的GPS可以帮助他们飞到“仙境瀑布”，不过卡尔还是割掉几个气球，准备降落并把小罗送上回家的汽车。就在这时意外发生了，浓雾中已经接近地面的飞屋撞上巨石，房子虽然躲过一劫，但卡尔和小罗都被抛了下去。眼看飞屋就要飘走，卡尔用水管套住了它，接着飞屋拖着他一直到了悬崖才停住，卡尔这才发现，“仙境瀑布”就在眼前（如右图）。从这里开始两个人开始拉着飞屋步行前进（他们随后来到了丛林里面）。那天晚上，小罗跟卡尔谈到了自己的家境……
在丛林里，卡尔和小罗遇到了新的朋友——一只长着长长红色的喙的色彩斑斓的大鸟（就是探险家蒙兹发现的新物种），这只鸟真的很大，还喜欢吃巧克力，小罗给它起名叫凯文(Kevin) ，鸟很喜欢小罗，但不太喜欢卡尔；接着两人又遇到了第二个朋友——会说话的狗“逗逗”(Dug)，说这只狗会说话并不确切，实际上是狗脖子上戴的项圈能把狗的想法通过人类语言表达出来，之后他们来到一个峡谷，那里有好几只狗出场，两只斗牛犬，一只杜宾犬（后面陆续还有其他很多狗出场，这些狗都和蒙兹有关）。
随后，爷俩被带到一个飞艇里，他们发现这个飞艇的主人居然就是探险家查尔斯·蒙兹，他的目的是抓住大鸟，证明自己。
得知蒙兹为达到目的会不择手段后，爷俩抢先逃跑。在把大鸟放回家时，蒙兹赶到并带走了大鸟……然后，爷俩就和蒙兹展开了搏斗，要救出大鸟。但蒙兹从飞艇中放出飞机，干扰飞屋前行……
搏斗过后，蒙兹和飞屋都坠下云层。而爷俩和大狗在和大鸟道别后，驾驶着蒙兹的飞艇回到了城市，小罗也获得了由卡尔奖励的徽章，三“人”成了形影不离的好朋友，过着幸福快乐而惬意的生活（就像小罗在跟卡尔谈家境时描述的那样）。而他们的飞屋最终随气球独自飘落在“平顶山脉”的仙境瀑布边上（而蒙兹下落不明），实现了艾丽和卡尔一生的梦想。

Up is another must-see animated film from Pixar Animation Studios. It's about a cranky old man and an overeager Scout who fly to South America in a floating house suspended from helium balloons. Up is director Pete Docter's (Monsters, Inc.) second feature-length film, and features the voices of Edward Asner, Christopher Plummer, Bob Peterson and Jordan Nagai. It is the first Pixar film to be presented in Disney Digital 3-D.
Up is definitely one of the better Pixar efforts. It's about the grandeur and excitement of flight and adventure. The first ten minutes of the film about Carl Fredricksen and his life-long love Ellie are surprisingly touching. It's heartbreaking to see him lose his wife even at old age. With nothing left to do Fredricksen heads for South America, but he's not alone. Russell, a Wilderness Explorer trying to earn his "Assisting the Elderly" badge, has stowed away on the porch after being sent on a snipe hunt by Carl the day before. The relationship of father and son that forms between Fredricksen and Russell is completely believable. The filmmakers certainly know how to make a film with endearing characters. The animation is gorgeous. Several scenes in Up are some of the most memorable that I've ever seen in animated films. Like other Pixar films Up is also very funny. Thankfully, it's sweet humour instead of the gross humour that's present in many of today's Hollywood films. In conclusion, Up is another daring, unusual and beautiful animated film from Pixar that both children and alts will enjoy watching. I highly recommend it.
