The Trojan War was a war waged, aording to legend, against the city of Troy in Asia Minor (present-day Turkey), by the armies of the Achaeans, after Paris of Troy stole Helen from her hu *** and Menelaus, king of Sparta. The war is among the most important events in Greek mythology and was narrated in many works of Greek literature, of which the o most famous are the Iliad and the Odyssey of Homer. She gets to telling her memory of the one and only voyage of the Titanic. With this, the scene shifts to Southhampton, Ireland where the Titanic set sail from on April 10, 1912 as all the passengers are boarding. After another s on the Irish coast Titanic went out to see on its maiden voyage across the Atlantic bound for New York. Historically the first few days of the voyage went by uneventful, but the fictional plot of the story is developed ring this time as Rose sees the hopeless entrapement of an engagement that she is in to the wealthy Cal Hockley and falls in love with third class passenger, Jack Dawson. Captain Smith alledgedly as shown in the movie was urged by the White Star Line Director to increase the speed of the ship so they would make the newspaper headlines and receive extra publicity by arriving in New York on Thursday night and not on Friday morning as planned. Smith then ordered the fateful decision going against his thirty-o years of experience to stretch the Titanic's legs out to full speed. The Titanic had reports that the waters in the Atlantic they were sailing in were full of icebergs, but they ignored these warnings and proceeded at full speed as shown in the movie. On April 15, 1912 at 11:39, an iceberg was sighted. They attempted to shut off the engines and turn the ship out of the path of the iceberg but there was not enough time and the ship hit the iceberg on the starboard side as depicted in the film. The portrayal of the many *** all holes in the side of the ship and not one large gash along the side is aurate. The crew of Titanic sent out distress calls and set off distress rockets as shown until 2:18 when the lights finally failed. The lights of the California were spotted six miles away but they failed to realize what was going on and did not respond to Titanic's many pleas for help. The California had tried earlier in the day to warn Titanic of the severe ice that had caused them to s their trip but Titanic had brushed them off causing the California to turn off its radio and leave the Titanic on its own. The first class women and children were the first as depicted to be put into the enty lifeboats that were on the ship. Overwhelmingly the third class passengers suffered the most amount of deaths of any class and the crew was hit hard in this tragedy too. The word of White Star Line employees and first class passengers was believed over that of second and third class passengers when authorities were trying to gain information of the sinking. Also, the metal that was used to build the Titanic has been found in recent years under conditions of severe cold, which were experienced the night Titanic sank to be extremely brittle. Overall, the basic plot is very aurate in its portayal of the events and the times at which these events took place on the Titanic.

影片的其他译名有狂恋大提琴、中断的琴声、希拉里和杰基、希拉莉和积琪琳。所谓没有比较，就没有伤害。这些译名不算错，但都不如烟花那样意味隽永，余音绕梁。

翻译成蝴蝶梦当然比吕蓓卡更有魅力。对于初次接触的观众而言，吕蓓卡只是一个女性的名字，除此之外，我们一无所知，且没有浮想联翩的欲望。蝴蝶梦，就算你不知道“庄生晓梦迷蝴蝶”，光从字面也能模糊的体验到诸如凄美、幻灭、遗憾之类的感觉。这三个字的组合，于我而言，有着不可描述的、令人着迷的魔力。

4. 末路狂花（ Thelma & Louise ， 1991 年）

女性冒险片，这是我看到片名《末路狂花》的第一印象。影片讲的是两名在生活中循规蹈矩的失意女性——塞尔玛与路易丝，周围的男性没一个好东西。某天，她们决定暂时摆脱平庸的现实，开车上路散心却意外杀人，此后一发不可收拾，抢劫、恐吓、射击、飙车，从家庭主妇和餐厅女招待变成比男人更彪悍的存在。她们冲破藩篱、奔向自由的旅程，最终在科罗拉多大峡谷的悬崖上戛然而止。塞尔玛和路易丝以年华、以生命为价，给予这个男权社会最后有力的一击和嘲讽。

末路狂花，言简意赅，暗含人物和结局，透着一往无前的孤勇和宁死不回的决绝。相比之下，“塞尔玛与路易斯”、“上错惊魂路”之类的译名，不是平淡就是肤浅，简直弱爆了。

5. 春风化雨（ Dead Poets Society ， 1989 年）

其实我很想把春风化雨排在第四，但因为末路狂花结尾太令人心痛和震撼，以至于觉得片名都带着血色（果然是谁惨谁胜出么……），所以忍痛让春风排在第五。Dead Poets Society原来译为“死亡诗社”，乍一看我还以为是我最心水的悬疑恐怖片，看了之后才知道讲的是一个老师通过言传身教潜移默化，帮助禁锢在传统守旧教条框框内的学生们解放思想、领悟自由与生命真谛的故事（里面将将18岁的伊桑·霍克真是帅到忧伤）。

一直以来，外语片名的翻译大部分都是大陆胜出（至少在以前是如此），香港译名总是带着浓厚的市井或江湖味，台湾的翻译多是流于艳俗。然而在本片，台湾译的“春风化雨”远胜其他两地，栩栩如生的提炼了影片主题和主角形象。对比香港译为“暴雨骄阳”，还有“壮志骄阳”，港真，不知道是什么鬼！

6. 绿野仙踪（ The Wizard of OZ ， 1939 年）

这个奇幻故事称得上家喻户晓，很少有人不知道的。当年我看这个故事时还不懂英文呢，书名被译为《奥兹国国王》，非常符合小孩子的审美情趣——小时候，大家不都爱听王子公主国王王后之流的故事么。后来上大学，才看到书的电影版，立刻被“绿野仙踪”这个名字秒到了。我相信很多人和我一样，都被这个充满美丽梦幻气息的名字所吸引——这更像属于大人的童话。绿野茫茫，仙踪渺渺，带着一丝中国特有的古典神话的飘逸，与西方的活泼明丽相得益彰，令人感觉深刻而鲜明。

其他译名有“奥兹国历险记”，也蛮恰当，就是少了点令人遐想的余地。

7. 翠提春晓（ The Great Waltz ， 1938 年）

其实我对这类影片兴趣不大。如果打出的片名是“伟大的圆舞曲”，我大概不会去看。但是，译成“翠提春晓”，就太漂亮了！片名画面感超强，尤其当我看到影片中长画卷般的仙境景色时更觉得这四个字美丽：

·维也纳森林中，天色将明，晨曦初露，满目苍翠，霞光透过枝叶射进密林，马蹄声敲着路面，发出优美、缓慢的“得、得、得”三拍节奏。

·朦胧晨雾中，羊群缓缓走过草地，牧羊人在牧笛上吹奏出朴素单纯而又悠扬舒缓的音调。

·维也纳河畔，作曲家施特劳斯所爱之人不忍破坏其家庭独自乘船离开，轮船远去，倩影消失在远方，施特劳斯茕茕孑立，而粼粼碧波的岸边是一对对幸福的情侣。

说实话，这种有妇之夫才子与红颜才女相识恨晚相恋，原配欲大度退出成全，然而才（小）女（三）良心发现，浪（渣）子（男）回归家庭的故事——如果不是有那么多流芳百世的作品加持，也就是碗狗血——当然，本片的碗比较华丽。

尽管如此，我仍幸庆因为片名而去观影——那首《当我们年轻时》，猝不及防就让当时的我遭到了一万点的心灵暴击：当我们还年轻，在美妙的五月早晨，你曾说：你爱我，当我们还年轻。

五月的早晨，像朝露、像夕阳、像最珍贵的青春，美好却易逝，唯有爱可以永不磨灭。

8. 乱世佳人（ Gone with the wind ， 1940 年）

说来惭愧，直到上高中我才拜读了赫赫有名的《飘》，上大学才看到根据书改编的电影《乱世佳人》。一般来说，如果先读了原著，后面再看根据其拍出的电影或电视剧，总会觉得后者不如前者——文字留给读者的脑补空间远远超过具体的影像。你在看书时，你的脑海里会形成你所希望的书中的主人公的形象，书里描述的一切细节，也会带有你根深蒂固的个人风格。但是《乱世佳人》完全没有输给原作，因为费雯·丽和克拉克·盖博正是我心目中的郝思嘉和白瑞特，尤其是费雯·丽的眼睛和气质，和书里描写的一模一样：“帽上长长的翠绿色飘带映衬着她那亮绿灵动的双眸……她是降落人间的精灵——纯洁又邪恶的迷人精灵。”这大概得归因于演员超群的演技。

Gone with the wind的中文书名译为《飘》，电影名译为《乱世佳人》，都非常棒。书是经典名著，书名要言简意赅，又要具备意味深长、耐人寻味的特点。一个“飘”字道尽了英文原名和书的精髓。在大型战争面前，个人的命运就如同被风刮下的落叶，背井离乡，流落四方，但最终会回到坚实的大地上。影片要卖座，就得尽可能吸引不同口味的观众，雅俗共赏。在艳俗的“佳人”前面放个“乱世”，立刻有了沉重和悲壮感，并且也概括了影片主要内容，真是极好的（甄嬛附体…）。相比之下，直译为《随风而逝》就显得中庸且不知所云了。

9. 廊桥遗梦（ The Bridge of Madison County ， 1994 年）

The Bridge ofMadison County译为“廊桥遗梦”充分体现了我国文化的博大精深。一开始，我也不知道为啥将“麦迪逊桥”翻译成“廊桥”，直到我看到影片中的桥——有顶的桥，可不就是中国的廊桥么——有房檐的桥。当然，麦迪逊的桥要比咱们精雕细刻的廊桥逊多了。“遗梦”用来形容缠绵悱恻而不能圆满的爱情再合适不过了。廊桥与遗梦的组合绝不仅是故事发生之地与故事结局的简单概括，它所包含的深意.....你懂的。

10. 人鬼情未了（ Ghost ， 1990 年）

与前面神作相比，其实《人鬼情未了》这个翻译并不是那么出彩，但是奈何队友太坑爹啊——其他的译名有《幽灵》以及《把妹把到鬼》——差点让我笑出八块腹肌。尤其是想到影片讲述的是一个凄美深情的人鬼爱情时，配上这么个二货的片名，真是很有反差萌啊~~

其他的佳作还有 风月俏佳人（ PrettyWoman ）、闻香识女人（ Scentof a Woman ）、月色撩人（ Moonstruck ）、深闺疑云（ Suspicion ）、壮志凌云（ Top Gum ）、出水芙蓉（ Bath Beauty ）、红菱艳（ The Red Shoes ）等 。但于我而言，感触都没有前10个那么多，就不写啦。

这些影片最新的，距今也快有20年，感觉那时的翻译者对作品不止于“准确”这一标准，他们把电影吃透，力求做到信、达、雅，带给观众艺术般的体验。如今不知是我看电影看少了，还是翻译水准下降，总之，再没有见过令我眼前一亮且怦然心动的片名了（惆怅脸）。

一、翻译原则

2、文化价值原则

茅盾说：“文学翻译是用另一种语言，把原作的艺术意境传达出来，使读者在读译文的时候能够像读原作时一样得到启发、感动和美的感受。”影视剧作为一种艺术表现形式，其翻译过程也是高度的艺术再现过程，因此，影视片名翻译要深入把握作品的思想美学内容，用汉语的艺术形式传达原作的`形象、情感和语言的艺术美。此方面的佳译有You Can't Take It with You《浮生若梦》、Gone with the Wind《乱世佳人》、Bathing Beauty《出水芙蓉》等，无不洋溢着具有含蓄美的书卷气，倾注了浓厚的中国文化情感，为中国观众所称道。

二、翻译方法

英语影视片名中译不仅是英汉语际转换的过程，也是中英两种文化交流的社会现象。在文字转化之间，要求既要紧扣影片内容，保留原名中的蕴涵信息和文化特色，又要注意选择中文与原片名艺术最相似、最贴近、为中国观众所熟悉的词语和文化意象来进行翻译使中译名易于为中国观众所接受，符合中国观众的审美习惯，做到“忠实性和创造性的统一”。常用的翻译方法有音译、直译、意译和变译法等。

1、音译法

音译法就是按照源语的发音规则，将其直接翻译成目的语发音相同或类似的文字语言。英语影视剧命名的特点之一就是常常采用用片中主要人物的名字或剧中有重要意义的地名、事物名等，有些影视剧是由著名的文学作品改编而成，其人名、地名早已为众多民族所熟知，所以翻译时可以直接采用音译法。例如：Merlin《梅林》、Casablanca《卡萨布兰卡》、Titanic《泰坦尼克号》等。

2、直译法

对于影视剧片名的翻译而言，直译法也被称为全译法，指在目的语条件允许时，在目的语中既保持源语内容，又保持源语形式，特别是源语的修辞、形象和民族地方色彩等。全译是对原文在意义上和形式上的保全行为(黄忠廉2002：21)。影视剧名的直译分为两种情况，一种是原标题语序，例如：Desparate Wives《绝望主妇》、True Lies《真实的谎言》、Kongfu Panda《功夫熊猫》等，另一种则必须按照目的语的特点，改变源语的词序，如The Age of Innocence《纯真年代》、 A Walk in the Clouds《云中漫步》等。

3、意译法

陈宏薇(1998：94)将词语的“意译法”定义为：译者在受到译语社会文化差异的局限时，不得不舍弃原文的字面意思，以求译文与原文的内容相符合和主要语言功能相似。有时英文影视片名拥有其独特的内在含义，直译片名很难将其含义表达出来，在这种情况下，译者应正确把握影视片的内容，抓住原文意义，抛弃原文形式，经典的翻译佳作有《魂断蓝桥》。Waterloo Bridge原意是“滑铁卢桥”，现在片名中“蓝”字暗合影片中两人相识、相爱、分手的夜晚氛围，同时“蓝”在英语中意为“忧伤”，“魂断蓝桥”四字，辞藻典雅、浪漫伤感、意境深幽，同时紧扣电影主题，是外国电影中文片名翻译中不可逾越的巅峰之作。其它的翻译实例有：Speed《生死时速》、Forrest Gump《阿甘正传》、The Notebook《恋恋笔记本》、Pretty Woman《风月俏佳人》等

4、变译法

当原片名的文化联想不能引起目的语观众的共鸣时，译者就需要根据目的语观众的利益和志趣，根据影片的内容进行创造性演绎，使影视片名与内容相得益彰，而且能更大幅度地吸引观众的注意力。许多著名影视剧片名翻译皆采用创译法，例如：The Great Waltz《翠堤春晓》，一部以小约翰斯特劳斯为原型的传记电影，电影原名的意思为“伟大的圆舞曲”，片中很多爱情场景以及小约翰创作圆舞曲的灵感来自奥地利优美的自然环境，译者为此采用了一个富有大自然风格的译名，字面给观众一个充满春天生机的浪漫场景，一对恋人正在河畔相互偎依，成为影片翻译名中的经典。其它经典实例还包括：No Reservations《美味情缘》、Inception《盗梦空间》、The Wizard of Oz《绿野仙踪》等。

理论的话，现在比较统一的是目的论（Skopos Theory 或 Skopstheorie）。目的论主要包含四个基本规则The Skopos rule， The Coherence rule， The Fidelity rule， 以及The Loyalty principle。 结合电影片名的英译来讲，就是将电影固有英文片名以及电影内容相结合来进行翻译，也可以看作是直译和意译的结合。其中主要运用的翻译方式是归化和异化，英文就是Domestication and foreignization。
最后补充一点，毕竟理论是通过实践总结出来的，所以也不好说现在片名的翻译有什么通用理论，只能说根据翻译成品，翻译过程等等来讲，大部分片名翻译与某个理论相符合。
