Sometimes in the past while watching animated movies of all sorts,I've lulled myself into thinking most characters are interchangeable,in that it didn't matter who voiced the character,as long as they did it competently.
Now,after seeing and enjoying "Despicable Me" I'll never have those thoughts again.With absolute certainty I will say,Steve Carell voicing the main character Gru is what makes this movie rise above ordinary.He is just made for this kind of stuff and could make the rest of his career on it,never appearing on screen himself.
Steve Carell's character,Gru,views himself as the most despicable person ever,anywhere.But suddenly he is upstaged by a young man,Vector,who steals the shrinking machine.We see this early on when tourists find out the great pyramid is an inflatable prop,because Vector shrunk the real one and stole it.
So Gru decides to steal the shrinking machine from Vector,and to pull the most audacious theft in history,will build a rocket to take him to the moon,shrink the moon,and bring it back with him.
Pretty ambitious stuff!But he needs help to get into Vector's fortress and,when he notices three orphan girls get in easily,decides to adopt the girls and use them in his scheme.
Somewhere along the path to his crimes Gru,the most despicable person on Earth,begins to care about the three girls,and that is the humanity of the story.
But all in all it is just a silly cartoon story,fun to watch,but Steve Carell with his superb vocal acting makes it worth seeing.
I was fascinated by the extras on the DVD.This movie was made by a large number of people scattered all over the world,never all at the same place.They used modern communications and linking technology to operate as one big team,rather than being physically together.

Source Code is an enjoyable Sci-fi thriller shot in Hitchcockian style,which reminds of the 1993 flick Groundhog Day.Director Duncan Jones who earlier directed the critically acclaimed movie Moon(2009) has created his second movie in even better way pleasing all the sections of the audience using an excellent screenplay by Ben Ripley.
Captain Colterswakes up in a train to Chicago, inside a body of a teacher whom he does not identify and comes to know that he's part of a mission to find the bomber of a Chicago commuter train and to prevent another bombing in the city.
Jake Gyllenhaal(Whom we loved in Prince of Persia) has done a superb job by effortlessly portraying the confusions,emotions and essence of Captain Colter Stevens.Michelle Monagahan has also played her role remarkably well and suits the role of a lovable Christina Warren.Vera Farmiga (Up In The Air fame) and Jeffrey Wright have done their parts with full commitment and requires appreciation.
Some small goofs about the bombing of the train and colter Stevens and low quality graphic effects,particularly the explosion scenes are the only negatives which can be picked out.
Excellent incorporation of love into a sci-fi background,goof-less script by Ben Ripley,the Hitchcockian way of story-telling and brisk Editing of the movie makes it a must watch for movie lovers.
Source Code is a thoroughly enjoyable Science Fiction with a well-crafted storyline,good performances,strong screenplay and commendable direction.Go for this movie and you will love it.

Time has not been completely kind to the 1939 version of "Wuthering Heights". Intended as a great tearjerker, it now comes across almost as camp. The hammy performances and dramatic dialogue are very entertaining, however.
The Emily Bronte classic has been condensed to feature the romance between Cathy and Heathcliff. Petulant beauty Cathy (Merle Oberon) and her sadistic, self-destructive brother Hindley (Hugh Williams) inherit the Wuthering Heights estate from their benevolent father (Cecil Humphreys). Left out is brooding adopted son/gypsy/stableboy Heathcliff (Lawrence Olivier). Since society would frown on their relationship, Cathy mps Heathcliff for wealthy snob neighbor David Niven. Heathcliff vows revenge on all concerned, which he does upon making his fortune.
Oberon and Olivier had been teamed up before in the highly successful "Divorce of Lady X" from 1938, but Olivier, not yet a star in America, had wanted lover Vivien Leigh (they would wed in 1940) as Cathy. United Artists instead offered Leigh the secondary lead, which she declined. ("Gone with the Wind" gave her a better role anyway). Ironically, Oberon and Olivier supposedly detested each other. Hollywood legend has it that when Director William Wyler yelled "cut" after a particularly romantic scene, Oberon shouted at him "Tell him [Olivier] to stop spitting on me!"
"Wuthering Heights" had excellent proction values. The sets, especially the rocky crags, are elaborate, as are Oberon's costumes. The film was rewarded with box office success and a slew of Oscar nominations: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor (Olivier), Best Original (?) Screenplay (Ben Hecht), Best Art Direction (James Basevi), Best Cinematography (Gregg Toland), Best Score (Alfred Newman), Best Supporting Actress (Geraldine Fitzgerald). Given strong competition from films such as "Gone with the Wind", "Wuthering Heights" did not win any awards.

The Pursuit of Happyness
I was fortunate to see this movie in a screening. I really enjoyed it, and felt that it lived up to the teary and heartwarming trailer. While the movie has an uplifting "go for your dreams" message, the deepest theme is that of family.
Will Smith did a great job as the father trying to protect his son from their circumstances of becoming homeless as much as he can, while at the same time trying to work in the competitive world of stocks as an un-paid intern. Jaden Smith was outstanding as the preschool-aged kid who knows things are going wrong and tries to have a stiff upper lip, but just can't do it all the time.
The story is very touching and was close to home for me. My family has been through some tough times, and this movie just reminded me of how much my parents struggled to provide for our family and yet kept life fun as much as they could. I am excited to go see this with my parents as a way to say thank you.

Midway through the composition of this essay, I came across Jenny Kwok’s well-researched writings on the genesis and phenomenon of Zhang Yimou’s Hero (2004). In particular, her insight into the Chinese folkloric “wu xia” or chivalrous-swordsman fiction presents a fertile angle for criticism of this genre within the poetic (as opposed to sensationalistic) aspect of Hero’s martial arts choreography, framing and editing. Often, Zhang favors close-ups or a series of closer shots of the physical action instead of wide angles –used to show off physics-defying acrobatic firsts– because the martial arts function to a greater degree as metaphors. Nonetheless, an examination of this particular genre is beyond the scope of my essay, so Kwok’s analysis of Hero from the “wu xia” angle will more than suffice for now. This essay also forgoes comments on the all-star cast and the Hong Kong actors’ infrequent but detectable slips in their Mandarin accent. Another rain check goes to a critique of the imperfect CG special effects displayed in the Zhao-siege long shots, as compared to say a costlier Ridley Scott Hollywood epic. Furthermore, e to the alist nature of the filmmakers’ intentions –of a blockbuster for the world and a culture-conscious film– Hero’s technical merit, both in its narrative structure and metaphorical showmanship, elevates it to a contemporary masterpiece, not a timeless work of art. Observations of this alism is again credited to Jenny Kwok’s writings from her paper “Hero: China’s response to Hollywood globalization.”

L.B.Jefferies, a photographer working at a magazine, broke his left leg six week ago, so he has to stay at his two-room apartment days and days. The reason of this accident is that he stood in the middle of the racing track for taking wonderful photos. Obviously, he is responsible and he loves his job. He has nothing to do but look out the window and watch the daily life of his neighbors in these days.
Lisa, a pretty girl who loves Jefferies very much, wants to marry him, but Jefferies doesn't want to. He thinks Lisa is perfect but not what he wants. She is wealthy, smart, beautiful, fashionable and patrician, while he is only a poor, ordinary man. Besides, he only wants to find someone who could go anywhere and do anything with him, but Lisa wants him leave the magazine and stay there with her. Their wishes are opposite, and they both don't intend to compromise, so it seems very far for them to get married.
As far as I can see, Lisa really loves Jefferies or she won't takes so much time to persuade him, and tries to add some fun in his boring life in those days. She is so successful and charming and there must be many gentlemen pursuing her, but she only loves that poor photographer. In fact, Jefferies also likes her, but he just wants her more ordinary. When I am watching the movie, I really hope Jefferies takes Stella’s advice and then marries with Lisa. Fortunately, it was a happy ending.
Pride and Prejudice《傲慢与偏见》
After watching this movie, the most I like is its ending. At the very beginning, I thought Lizzy and Mr. Darcy were very suitable. We knew that Mr. Darcy fell in love with Lizzy at the second time he saw her, but Lizzy didn't liked him because of his pride. Personally saying, I like Darcy from the beginning to the end even when he only showed his unpleasant personality. Though many inhabitants thought he was overbearing, I still found some advantages of him. Well-ecated, handsome, pride but not showing his wealth, and so forth. He was quite different from Mr. Bingley. Mr. Bingley was agreeable and unreserved, and so being liked by everyone while Darcy's pride was disliked by all. Certainly, Mr. Bingley was easy to get along well with, and Darcy was hard to approach since he didn't like to talk with strangers. But they both were nice men. Mr. Bingley showed his admiration to Jane while Mr. Darcy hid his love to Lizzy in his heart secretly. For me, Darcy's hidden love was more impressive. He did much for Lizzy. Not only changed his personality, but also helped her solve her family's problem. His true love made me moved.

这段时间各种媒体对《天下无贼》的报道铺天盖地，自己也没能抵抗住冯小刚这块金字招牌的诱惑，11号晚上乖乖地在新东安给这部商业大片贡献了100两银子。影片一开始的付彪学英语就来了个头彩，不知道是否因为药物治疗而发胖的彪哥把这个既怕老婆又色心不死的大款演的惟妙惟肖，而刘德华教训小区保安的段子也是典型的冯氏幽默。不过很快地，影片的调子就向着正剧的方向跑去，除了葛优葛大爷依然维持了冷面笑匠的本色时不时冒出一两句的经典台词来让人捧腹。恩，口吃的范伟与娘娘腔的冯远征打劫的这一段也让人难忘，看着那么胖的范伟手里拿着一把小斧头的样子，以及冯远征那句“笑什么笑，这儿打劫呢，严肃点儿！”，实在是太好玩了。
刘德华这次的表现我要拍手叫好，从开始的狂妄，到与贼团伙交手的稳健，再到为情而舍身取义，他的表演过渡得很自然，比起《十面埋伏》里的苍白与一味耍酷，要有血有肉得多。当然，这也跟剧本与导演的驾驭能力有关，在对港台商业演员的使用上，冯小刚比张艺谋明显要高出一筹。
整部影片中的软广告无处不在见缝就入。一开始的Canon摄像机和BMW轿车自不必说，搞笑的是扮成旅行团的一伙盗贼，每人手上还举着一个小旗子，旗上三个大字：“淘宝网”，这倒跟他们“淘宝”的身份挺符合的，哈哈。还有刘德华与刘若英递过来递过去的一张银联卡，警察的HP笔记本和Canon便携打印机，而影片中出现得最多的，就是Nokia手机了。在寺庙里从香客处偷来的手机，居然全是Nokia的，每偷一个还给个手机的特写，刘德华与刘若英对发手机短信，也全是大幅的手机特写镜头，最搞笑的是影片最后，刘德华手中的Nokia是如此的光芒四射，整个屏幕的焦点完全在这手机上了，而警察同志拿起手机来帮刘德华发出最后的短信时，“中国移动”的标志又象刀一样的刻在了观众的视线里。
虽然这么多的软广告让人觉得有点好笑，但这部影片整体上还是相当精致的，冯小刚这次是完完全全地打造着一部商业大片，故事的情节、场面和音乐都继续向好来坞靠拢，这是件好事，没有那么多的思想，没有那么多的说教，让观众舒舒服服地在电影院中度过两个小时的童话时光，这就够了。
