第一次参加配音的译制片是日本影片《阿西门的街》。主要配音作品有电影《罗马假日》安妮公主、《莉莉玛莲》莉莉玛莲，墨西哥电视剧《卞卡》卞卡等。1987年，为“卞卡”配音获中国电影表演艺术学会首届学会奖。还曾获长影小百花优秀配音奖、文化部优秀女主角配音奖等。现为中国电影表演艺术学会会员。
金毅的父亲是菲律宾人，曾就职于长影乐团。母亲是韩国人。金毅是在参加工作以后才加入中国国籍的。
