When I first saw this movie I didn't appreciate it like I do now. Because I was so young that I didn’t get the main idea when I first saw it. Just recently I saw the movie again. What an amazing and moving story. That movie teaches you so much about life and the meaning of it. That life isn't as bad as most people feel. Forrest Gump, the innocent man can impact so many lives with his innocence. The meaning of the movie to me is that everyone needs to have a better outlook on life. That we need to appreciate more of the little things and not let the big things hold us back. Although life may throw us trials and tribulations like a box of chocolates, we just have to bite into it and get through it even if we don't like it. I just love this movie. And anyone who hasn't seen it or who thinks that don't like it I seriously suggest seeing it or seeing it again. It truly is amazing...

And this beginning is a tough one—with an Oscar winner as its subject, surrounding which there is considerably controversy over the values it has questioned, the thoughts it tried to implicitly convey, and the art of the movie itself. 在精神享受上，我和父亲有一志趣相投之处，都是铁杆影迷。不同在于，我纯粹是个看客，可父亲呢，电影曾经是他的事业——先别张嘴，他可不是什么影星、导演——他在青年时代是村里的电影放映员，曾在镇文化站组织下，在各村巡回放映过电影。我从小就在视听艺术中耳濡目染，除了村里放电影时，能颇荣耀地坐在电影机旁边，故弄玄虚地“操作”机器外，还坐在父亲的那辆破自行车的大梁上，跟着他“巡回演出”过。——记起无数个星光满天的深夜，露天电影散场后，父亲那辆破自行车前面驮着我，后面驮着电影机、电影胶片，爷儿俩一路说笑骑车回家的情形，感觉那真是童年一种莫大的幸福。——不同还有，父亲至今还迷恋枪战、武打，我却已经对那一套嗤之以鼻了。当战争片、警匪片、爱情片、武侠片、科幻片统统看腻的时候，我的目光锁定在艺术片上了，好比吃腻了鱼身子，改吃鱼头了。
我对艺术电影有一套自己的看法。所谓“艺术片”，就是你看一遍看不懂的电影，以及各种传统电影之外的影片，比如着重于某种形式的肆意渲染的东西。比如色彩与画面俱佳的《英雄》——《英雄》就是一部以“商业片”为起点的艺术追求之作。
艺术片是一种应该用“第三只眼”去瞧的玩意儿。它拒绝你传统意义上的“看懂”，它拒绝千篇一律的从头到尾在讲一个故事的陈旧模式。它与先锋文学一脉相承，它甚至否定情节化。
你看不懂是你的欣赏水平有限，你的艺术欣赏眼光没能与时俱进。你不能再停留在家长里短上了，历尽千辛万苦，终于大团圆的美好结局俗不可耐。
你在艺术电影中欣赏到的不再是单一的故事情节，更多的是一种意识的流动，是人物内心世界的裸露纷呈。它最喜欢用肢体语言——即表演与你交流。
因此，我在《花眼》中欣赏诗意的叙事；在《周渔的火车》中观看音乐MTV，感受一个女人内心世界的微妙的情感游移；在《开往春天的地铁》中学习与人交流；在《苏州河》里目击阴谋之于爱情；在《英雄》中非常纯粹地去玩味优美的画面；在《阳光灿烂的日子》中回忆成长；在《寻枪》中看到自己面对整个世界的焦躁之情；在《北京乐与路》中目送理想的幻灭；在《卡拉是条狗》中发现象征，卡拉是谁家的狗呢，是我们越发麻木的热爱生活的那种激情；从头吵到尾的《我爱你》，将婚姻生活中的磕磕碰碰演绎到极致，你感受到的是前所未有的真实；《像鸡毛一样飞》是拍给诗人看的片子，是孟京辉早期诗人梦的终结，我和他同样缅怀那个属于诗歌的时代……
艺术电影是融合先锋精神的电影。先锋的尴尬，就是曲高和寡，不为狭隘见容。可它们永远是先驱者，是精神领袖。
李少红的另类电视剧《大明宫词》热播时，我们的评论家们怀抱尊重历史的大旗无可适从，对现代感极强的口语对白口诛笔伐，沉溺于肥皂剧中的我们也推波助澜。可现在它已经发展成为一种趋势。王家卫的《阿飞正传》、《重庆森林》、《东邪西毒》、《花样年华》，也不单单是为“小资”拍的商业电影，他有他艺术家的追求。张艺谋的《有话好好说》的摇摇晃晃的镜头语言就是“抄袭”老王的……
内地所谓“艺术片”，都是商业味道十足的借鸡下蛋的产品。有所谓“为艺术而艺术”精神的导演们也都是在商业电影的外衣下，阐述他要表达的东西，所谓做体制内的“大师”。艺术电影的前途，好像还是应该拉近与平民的距离，尽量去找寻一种雅俗共赏的表达。《霸王别姬》之后，陈凯歌就找到了那种表达，非常成功地《和你在一起》了。
