The film stars a panda named Po (voice of Jack Black), who is so fat he can barely get out of bed. He works for his father, Mr. Ping (James Hong) in a noodle shop, which features Ping's legendary Secret Ingredient. How Ping, apparently a stork or other billed member of the avian family, fathered a panda is a mystery, not least to Po, but then the movie is filled with a wide variety of creatures who don't much seem to notice their differences.
They live in the beautiful Valley of Peace with an ancient temple towering overhead, up zillions of steps, which the pudgy Po can barely climb. But climb them he does, dragging a noodle wagon, because all the people of the valley have gathered up there to witness the choosing of the Dragon Warrior, who will engage the dreaded Tai Lung (Ian McShane) in kung-fu combat. Five contenders have been selected, the "Furious Five": Monkey (Jackie Chan), Tigress (Angelina Jolie), Mantis (Seth Rogen), Viper (Lucy Liu) and Crane (David Cross). Tigress looks like she might be able to do some serious damage, but the others are less than impressive. Mantis in particular seems to weigh about an ounce, tops. All five have been trained (for nearly forever, I gather) by the wise Shifu, who with Dustin Hoffman's voice is one of the more dimensional characters in a story that doesn't give the others a lot of depth. Anyway, it's up to the temple master Oogway (Randall Duk Kim), an ancient turtle, to make the final selection, and he chooses -- yes, he chooses the hapless and pudgy Po.
The story then becomes essentially a series of action sequences, somewhat undermined by the fact that the combatants seem unable to be hurt, even if they fall from dizzying heights and crack stones open with their heads. There's an extended combat with Tai Lung on a disintegrating suspension bridge (haven't we seen that before?), hand-to-hand-to-tail combat with Po and Tai Lung, and upstaging everything, an energetic competition over a single mpling.
"Kung Fu Panda" is not one of the great recent animated films. The story is way too predictable, and truth to tell, Po himself didn't overwhelm me with his charisma. But it's elegantly drawn, the action sequences are packed with energy, and it's short enough that older viewers will be forgiving. For the kids, of course, all this stuff is much of a muchness, and here they go again.

He bribed the hutu general by wine and gold, used out every coin of his to purchase the refugees’ lives, ten, a hundred, 2 hundreds, 3 hundreds… more and more tutsi refugees flee to the hotel wishing to survive. I honestly don't know where to start with this movie. I will say however, that - like many other people - this is the film I've been waiting 20 years to see.
I suppose it's sensible to start with what should be the foundation stone of any cinematic experience - the script. It's cheesy, cliché-ridden, and poorly-structured. Characterisation (especially of the Autobots/Decepticons) is non-existent. Optimus Prime uttering the words "My bad" must go down in history as one of the worst moments in movie history. Actually scratch that - the "lubricating" scene is definitely worse. The writing of human characters is lazy at best, sticking with stereotypes such as the beautiful code-breaker, fat computer whizz, bumbling government agent etc etc. The performances (Shia aside) are instantly forgettable, but a great deal of that comes down to the script and direction. Megan Fox may be a great actress for all I know, but she may as well be a stripper for the purposes of this movie.
The effects are incredible (although not helped by Bay's erratic editing style), but when you've no reason to care about them it results in an empty experience. Effects DON'T MAKE A MOVIE.
With Spielberg as part of this project I allowed myself a little optimism, but it's patently clear that Bay and Co. had no understanding or respect for the Transformers franchise. GIANT "FLIPPING" ROBOTS BLOWING "STUFF" UP this may be, but it is most certainly not Transformers.

In my opinion this is the best Cinderella story that there is. The characters are fantastic! With all their different personalities coming together, it really makes the story fun to watch. If you love fairy tales and whimsical romances, this is the perfect movie for you.

The take on the story is a little different but not so different as to disappoint diehard Cinderella fans. There is more of a back story to the Prince and a new dilemma keeping him and Cinderella apart. The stepmother and stepsisters are divine. They nailed the parts. The fairy godmother is a riot and probably my favorite character in this movie. The incidental love story of the prince's companion-at-arms and a lady-in-waiting is very charming. I have always loved fairy tales and I was not disappointed in the retelling of one of the world's favorites.

This film was absolutely amazing. I have spent hours re-watching various scenes and noticing all the perfection with which they are acted and directed. It's not the violence or action sequences that make this movie so great (although they are well done...), but rather moments like where Mathilda knocks on Leon's door. It would be so easy to just film the door opening, but instead we see light illuminating Natalie Portman's face, symbolizing something angelic. And the moment has so much more meaning.
I know a lot of people who have seen this film because they are action fans. I'm not. But I'm glad I finally found it, because it's a wonderful film in so many other ways.

Gua Sha is a movie about the differences between American and Chinese culture. Xu datong is a video games designer in St. Louis. When his father visits from China, he performs Gua Sha (a Chinese traditional treatment) on his grandson, which leaves bright red marks on the skin and causes a lawsuit of child abuse. In the court, Datong loses his mind so that finally he loses custody of his son. I think this scene is shocking and thought-provoking to most of the Chinese audiences. But the most impressing scene to me is the ending. Datong wants to see his son in Christmas eve, he has to climb a pipe to the ninth floor which his son lives. I think the pipe is not only a pipe, but also a gap, a deep gap between American and 5000-year Chinese culture. He wants to climb over the gap and he will never succeed, perhaps no Chinese people really could succeed.

THE PATRIOT Roland Emmerich, USA, 2000
Mel Gibson is a movie star. A really big one, even. He's got charisma and presence and lights up the screen and is pleasingly handsome in a rugged, non-pretty-boy kind of way. He's funny and charming on talkshows and makes lots of money for all of the above. This much we know. What remains a bit of a mystery is how he maintains such status. His star-power is firmly rooted in the seemingly ancient Lethal Weapon series and the quip-throwing, fast drawing, scene-chewing character he plays in it seems to have overtaken his public persona as well. Does anyone actually know anyone who even saw Lethal Weapon 4? The more appropriate question perhaps being: does anybody remember it? Does anybody care?
Since Mel Gibson is a movie star by trade, he is also tangentially an actor. And in his new film, The Patriot, he has a listless taciturnity that one could diplomatically describe as "understated" or, if so inclined, "Gary Cooper-ish." Ultimately, though, Gibson's performance just seems false -- hollow in an utterly competent, completely professional way. In the age of Jim Carrey and Fight Club, Being John Malkovich and Ben Stiller, Gibson's style of acting doesn't seem so much old school as plain inadequate. This is not to run roughshod over classical notions of subtlety or interiority, but merely to say that if he was once emblematic of his time, Gibson's moment has passed. Perhaps he is simply inching towards some exclusive hideaway of insignificance, where he can commiserate over the rising price of jet fuel with Kevin Costner and Harrison Ford.
It's not all his fault, either, The Patriot. And it's not even that it's a bad movie, it's just not good either; it just is. Created by the director/procer team of Roland Emmerich and Dean Devlin, The Patriot is caught in the double bind of wanting to be two semi-incompatible things at once. On the one hand, the project has the air of an important, high-style heritage picture about a simple farmer trying to escape his past sins and keep his family together ring trying times. But set against the backdrop of the Revolutionary War, the movie continually feels an alternate pull towards being a blood-and-guts actioner. Over the course of its 2 1/2 hours, the film often seems at war with itself -- every time it starts to move with a steady flow, building momentum, it suddenly finds itself in a little narrative eddy, taking time out for a funeral, or a wedding, or to reiterate how bad the bad guys are (as in not good) and how the good guys are simple folk just trying to get along and colonially do their thing.

看了《爱国者》，很受感动。影片讲述的是一段美国独立战争的历史。主人公是一位议员和一群孩子的父亲。一家人过得还算和-谐。作为父亲，他在家里有着相当的威严，而一群孩子也不是吃素的，他们的顽皮让这位父亲吃尽苦头却又无可奈何。但因其反对对英国作战而被孩子们误解，他们都有着自己的参军梦，甚至远远听到枪炮声，他们也会熟练搬出枪以备不时之需。然而英军的的到来改变了一切。在家园被毁又即将失去第二个儿子时父亲终于爆发了，和两个小儿子一起歼灭了一股二十一人的英军，这让人联想到他当年的英姿，也让他找回了自己潜藏的勇气。在复仇和追求自由这两条主线的引导下，主人公带领着国民军逐步走向胜利。
影片花了很大的手笔来阐述美国对自由的向往和因此付出的沉重代价，从激烈的议会讨论，人们参军的热情，到家园的被毁，战场上的惨烈牺牲。相信看过该片的决不会忘记那些古老而又独特的战争场面，两军(正规军)对垒都是以人员和武器作为筹码，而这往往是英军占优，美军是即输场面又输战争，这看上去有点幽默的味道，完全是对现代战争的颠覆，看不到现代战争中的谋军布局。而国民军却也会玩游击战，有一段时间竟被英军称之为“幽灵”，很有点中国特色的味道。但这确实是一支杂牌军，就连教堂里的牧师也披装上阵，只是不知道他在杀人之前会不会念上一句“上帝保佑”，其最后的牺牲却也充满了悲剧色彩。
虽然这是一部战争片，但是导演在战争之外的细节上有很好的把握，除了宏大的战争场面外，也不失暖暖的温情，真实而感人。其中身为国民军上校的父亲与刚刚会说话的女儿的告别一段，导演处理得别具匠心，将主角在军队与家庭角色的矛盾和女儿对父亲的理解尽融于女儿的呼唤和转身的深情一抱之中，可谓感人至深。导演对种族矛盾的解构也是该片的亮点之一，最初白人对黑奴的歧视，通过战争的隐含功能最终达成了和解，“与你并肩作战是我的荣幸。”将这对不大不小的矛盾融于对自由不懈追求的主题之中，也是对黑人在美国独立战争中所做的贡献的一种认同，他们也是美国历史的创造者。
不能不说这是一部成功的影片，无论你对美国有如何的偏见，看了该片你却不由的对那些为自由而战的勇士们产生由衷的敬意，这确实是一个非凡的国度，这样的民族没有理由不屹立于世界强者之林。

电影《上甘岭》讲的是志愿军在朝鲜战场上抗击美帝侵略者的一次战役。在这场战役中，八连已经在山上抗道里坚持战斗了一个月。由于敌人的封锁，部队严重缺水，战士们的嘴唇都干裂了。上级领导派来送水的小分队，队员们一个个牺牲。为了保存实力，八连战士们又得下山去抢水。但是，战士们刚装好水，就被敌人的流弹打中了。后来，师长派人历尽千辛万苦才送上一些萝卜，并特意送给连长两个苹果。虽然连长自己是那样干渴，却把两个苹果分成许多片，分别送到全连每个战士的手上……
看到这里，我的眼睛湿润了。战士们在那样饥渴的情况下，没有忘记自己的战友，这种阶级友爱是多么高尚。他们真正做到了“我们的干部要关心每个战士，一切革命队伍的人都要互相关心，互相爱护，互相帮助。”

In my opinion this is the best Cinderella story that there is. The characters are fantastic! With all their different personalities coming together, it really makes the story fun to watch. And the music is wonderful, the songs are beautiful and catchy but not cheesy. The story line has more of a twist, in that the dream doesn't come true right when the slipper fits. If you love fairy tales and whimsical romances, this is the perfect movie for you.

Our main pups include brave Lucky, who gets a strong personality mirroring his character in the book, lovable Rolly, the gourmand of the pups, and sweet little Cadpig, who is the true runt of the litter. Also there is Spot the chicken, who longs to be a dog. I find them all extremely amiable and enjoyable to watch. They are usually foiling Cruella's schemes for their land, or outwitting Lt. Pug (I'll get to him later), or sneaking into Grutely, or...just having fun, making a very likable show.

After the appreciation of the film “Titanic”, I have noticed some meaningful details behind the peoples’ general impression of simply an affectional film. The wreck of the Titanic occurred in 1912, in which the great recession started from the end of the 19th Century still hasn’t ended. Most critics pointed out that the sinking of the Titanic represents the collapse of the Capitalism in the end of the 19th Century. However, I would like to say that, in this movie, the director had not only foreran the crisis of the Capitalism, but also showed some of the human nature, from both gloomy and brilliant aspects, like selfish, mammonish, vainglorious, and love, hope, bravery, faith, and so on.
