劇情簡介

托尼·史塔克（小羅伯特·唐尼飾）出生在紐約一個富豪家庭，從小衣來伸手飯來張口的他，並未像所有的紈絝子弟那般只知道享樂胡鬧。天生聰慧的史塔克卻是個出奇的天才，17歲畢業於麻省理工大學電力工程系，並以傲人的成績成功找到了自己的社會定位——其家族企業史塔克軍火公司的新老闆。

父母的不幸去世反而更激發了托尼事業的前進動力。21歲時便開始掌控數百億財產的他，逐漸確立了史塔克公司作為美軍第一軍火供應商的雄厚地位。不過托尼傲慢自大的性格以及為達到目的不擇手段的做法常常為自己找來很多麻煩。

還好，他身邊還有一個精明能幹、性感迷人的女助手維吉尼亞·波茨（格溫妮斯·帕特洛飾）時刻給自己無微不至的關懷和幫助。但不久後的一次綁架事件徹底改變了托尼·史塔克的一生。當托尼帶領一班手下和軍方觀察員在荒無人煙的地方測試自己最新研製的成果時，不料遭遇恐怖分子的襲擊。

於是，他改進了鋼鐵盔甲，製造了另一塊聚變能源，成為真正的鋼鐵俠。俄巴迪亞·斯坦（傑夫·布里奇斯飾）這個覬覦史塔克的富豪生活已久的壞傢伙按捺不住，在史塔克軍火公司里大興波瀾，與恐怖分子頭目秘密交易。

從其手中獲得史塔克逃出恐怖分子基地時所損壞的盔甲殘骸並在一班科學家的幫助下，奪取了托尼的聚變能源將鋼鐵盔甲改進用在了自己身上。至此故事中的頭號壞蛋終於有了為所欲為的理由和底氣。

托尼只能靠著舊的電磁石心臟同斯坦戰斗。最後波茨啟動了電弧的所有能源，將斯坦打敗。在第二天的新聞發布會上，托尼宣布，I am Iron Man.（我是鋼鐵俠）。
