阿基里斯
（希臘語：Ἀχιλλεύς，拉丁語：Achilles）是海洋女神忒提斯（Thetis）與國王佩琉斯（Peleus）的兒子，他是所有英雄之中最耀眼的一位，也是戰無不勝的。荷馬在《伊利亞特》中花了很大的篇幅對之進行描寫。他歷來以其勇氣，俊美和體力著稱。他對雅典娜（Athena）和赫拉（Hera）非常尊敬。

他的母親是不死的，所以她也希望自己的孩子不死。忒提斯每次生育之後，無一例外都將孩子放到天火中煉，但都以失敗告終。在阿基里斯出生後，忒提斯照樣捏著他的腳踝將他浸泡在冥河斯提克斯（一說天火）中，使他全身刀槍不入，惟有腳踝，即忒提斯手握著的地方是例外，此即西諺「阿基里斯之踵」的來源。(因此腳踝是他唯一弱點）

阿基里斯小時就在人馬喀戎（Chiron）那裡學到了草葯醫學與格鬥的技藝。他的父親在婚禮上得到兩匹神馬——克桑托斯（Xanthus）和巴利奧斯（Balius）。這兩匹神馬是西風神澤費羅斯（Zephyrus）的兒子。克桑托斯告訴阿基里斯，阿基里斯將於特洛伊陣亡。阿基里斯則回答道："這個我知道。"後來一位埃里尼斯（Erinnyes） ，即命運女神，使克桑托斯閉了嘴，免得它再泄漏天機。他母親知道兒子將死於特洛伊，即送他出國。後來預言家卡爾卡斯（Calchas）對阿伽門農（Agamemnon）兄弟說只有阿基里斯參加征討才能攻下特洛伊，於是奧德修斯（Odysseus）就假扮商人找到了他並帶他去了特洛伊。

關於特洛伊戰爭，《伊利亞特》書中一開始時阿基里斯就與阿伽門農發生了爭執，起因是阿伽門農搶奪了阿基里斯所擄回的女奴，阿基里斯憤而離營，從此不參加戰斗。希臘軍的戰況時好時差，宙斯（Zeus）給予士兵們信心，卻從不打算教他們真正勝利，到後來，希臘聯軍節節敗退，一度被打回岸邊。即使阿伽門農派人請求阿基里斯的原諒，他仍然不為所動，最後阿基里斯的摯友帕特羅克洛斯（Patroclus）不忍見己方士兵死傷慘重，穿上阿基里斯的鎧甲，假扮成他的模樣出戰，情勢曾一度逆轉，最後他卻被赫克托耳（Hector）所殺，這才激發了阿基里斯的戰意。參戰後他作戰勇猛無比，最後赫克托耳也死於阿基里斯槍下，赫克托耳的老父普里阿摩斯（Priamus）贖回了兒子的屍體，故事結束於赫克托耳的喪禮。

殺死赫克托耳之後，阿基里斯還殺死了特洛伊的救兵，亞馬遜族（Amazons）女首領和門儂（Memnon）。

而在其他作品中，阿基里斯最後被特洛伊王子帕里斯（Paris）在太陽神阿波羅（Apollo）指點下，用箭射中阿基里斯的腳踝，希臘人的第一勇士因此而死去，之後，解剖學家就將腳踝位置的肌腱(即阿基里斯被射中的位置)命名為阿基里斯腱。

至於特洛伊城最終是被攻陷了
