雪景的種類，不同的雪景，有不同的拍攝技巧。依據雪的形態，雪景可分為飄雪、積雪和風雪景觀。拍攝飄雪時，應該選擇雪團直徑大且密度又較稀的雪天，並用深色的背景（建築物、街道、樹林等），把雪團飄落的軌跡襯托出來。

拍攝積雪景觀最需要准確的曝光，必須考慮許多復雜的因素，如天氣的陰晴、時間的早晚、光照的方向和角度、雪的色澤和覆蓋情況等等，有經驗的拍攝者，會在測光值的基礎上大膽增加一些曝光量。此外，面對陽光和雪地，必須合理使用濾色鏡。
