這是一個關於成長的故事。小鹿斑比來到了這個世界上，和其他好朋友一起無憂無慮生活在森林裡。一天，他見到了鹿群的領袖，媽媽這時才告訴他，這就是他的父親。鹿媽媽不久就犧牲在獵人的槍下，斑比只能和父親相依為命了。轉眼間，斑比長大了。到了戀愛的季節，他為了爭奪一頭母鹿的愛而和另一頭公鹿進行了決斗，他大獲全勝；秋天來臨，森林燃起了大火，在父親的鼓勵下，斑比勇敢地躍入了瀑布；春天又得到了，斑比真的長大了，成了鹿群的新領袖。

《小鹿斑比2》是一部於2006年由華特迪士尼製作的長篇動畫片。它首次公開是以電影院的形式，於2006年1月26日在阿根廷首映；之後，迪士尼又於2006年2月7日以錄影帶首映的形式於美國發行。這部片打破了「兩部於同一系列中的電影相隔之製作時間」的世界記錄，它是迪士尼之前的電影《小鹿斑比》的「鏡框式續集」，而該兩部片相隔的製作時間長達了64年之久。
本片是由 Bruce Broughton 負責配樂，他曾經配樂過的迪士尼動畫還包括1990年的經典動畫電影【救難小英雄澳洲歷險記】。至於片中新創作的歌曲 ，譜寫詞曲的包括有 David Friedman 、Michelle Lewis 、Daniel Petty 、Richard Marx 、Dean Plichford 、Marcus Hummon 等，而由美國知名的鄉村歌手 Martina McBride 、Alison Krauss 、Michelle Lewis 、Anthony Callea 等所演唱。
