Because we're here on behalf of the American Film Institute to honor the 100 greatest movie quotes in American film. These are lines born on a blank page-- the writer gives them life and an actor gives them a voice. But it's you who ultimately embraces them and adopts them as your own.

美國舊金山「基因系統公司」（Gen-Sys）科學家威爾·羅德曼，研製出一種從病毒演變而來、能夠治療阿茲海默症的「ALZ-112號葯物」，威爾得知上司史蒂芬·雅各布斯將會中止實驗並安樂死所有猩猩，在別無選擇下將幼猩猩帶回家飼養，以一本凱撒大帝書籍而將它取名為「凱撒」，並發現幼猩猩從母親身上遺傳到一些葯物作用而提升智商。

威爾在想盡辦法救凱撒出去時，回到公司獲得批准而將原來的葯物項目繼續進行，通過強化112號葯物配方而研製出進化版：ALZ-113號氣體葯物。威爾用一隻長相兇悍的倭黑猩猩「庫巴」進行實驗，庫巴於實驗期間打掉富蘭克林的防毒面罩，加上氣體泄漏而差點釀成大錯。

巴克因傷勢嚴重而死在凱撒面前，凱撒看著在直升機里求饒的雅各布斯後，任由庫巴將整架直升機連同雅各布斯一起推入橋河中墜亡。所有猩猩逃入森林中回歸自然，但威爾還是趕到並警告凱撒關於人類還是會來追殺它們，也希望凱撒和他一起回家。凱撒卻擁抱威爾，並說凱撒已經回家了。

威爾理解到凱撒在和他告別，於是決定滿足凱撒的心願，最後目睹它陪伴著他的猩猩族群們迎接森林裡的新生活。事情過後，軍方將整件事情低調處理，並查封基因系統公司。但當初受富蘭克林一打噴嚏而受感染的漢斯克，身為客機駕駛員而即將駕駛去巴黎的飛機。同樣開始身體不適的他攜帶著病毒，透過飛機順勢將病毒傳播至世界各地，從此為世界引發大規模的瘟疫。
