The Trojan War was a war waged, aording to legend, against the city of Troy in Asia Minor (present-day Turkey), by the armies of the Achaeans, after Paris of Troy stole Helen from her hu *** and Menelaus, king of Sparta. The war is among the most important events in Greek mythology and was narrated in many works of Greek literature, of which the o most famous are the Iliad and the Odyssey of Homer. The Iliad relates a part of the last year of the siege of Troy, and the Odyssey describes the journey home of Odysseus, one of the Achaean leaders. Other parts of the story were narrated in a cycle of epic poems, which has only survived in fragments. Ancient Greeks believed that the Trojan War was a historical event. With this, the scene shifts to Southhampton, Ireland where the Titanic set sail from on April 10, 1912 as all the passengers are boarding. After another s on the Irish coast Titanic went out to see on its maiden voyage across the Atlantic bound for New York. Historically the first few days of the voyage went by uneventful, but the fictional plot of the story is developed ring this time as Rose sees the hopeless entrapement of an engagement that she is in to the wealthy Cal Hockley and falls in love with third class passenger, Jack Dawson. Captain Smith alledgedly as shown in the movie was urged by the White Star Line Director to increase the speed of the ship so they would make the newspaper headlines and receive extra publicity by arriving in New York on Thursday night and not on Friday morning as planned. Smith then ordered the fateful decision going against his thirty-o years of experience to stretch the Titanic's legs out to full speed. The Titanic had reports that the waters in the Atlantic they were sailing in were full of icebergs, but they ignored these warnings and proceeded at full speed as shown in the movie. On April 15, 1912 at 11:39, an iceberg was sighted. They attempted to shut off the engines and turn the ship out of the path of the iceberg but there was not enough time and the ship hit the iceberg on the starboard side as depicted in the film. The portrayal of the many *** all holes in the side of the ship and not one large gash along the side is aurate. The crew of Titanic sent out distress calls and set off distress rockets as shown until 2:18 when the lights finally failed. The lights of the California were spotted six miles away but they failed to realize what was going on and did not respond to Titanic's many pleas for help. The California had tried earlier in the day to warn Titanic of the severe ice that had caused them to s their trip but Titanic had brushed them off causing the California to turn off its radio and leave the Titanic on its own. The first class women and children were the first as depicted to be put into the enty lifeboats that were on the ship. Overwhelmingly the third class passengers suffered the most amount of deaths of any class and the crew was hit hard in this tragedy too. The word of White Star Line employees and first class passengers was believed over that of second and third class passengers when authorities were trying to gain information of the sinking. Also, the metal that was used to build the Titanic has been found in recent years under conditions of severe cold, which were experienced the night Titanic sank to be extremely brittle. Overall, the basic plot is very aurate in its portayal of the events and the times at which these events took place on the Titanic.

首先，如果譯為《滑鐵盧橋》，從翻譯角度看，當然沒有錯，但會讓人以為這是一部戰爭片或關於拿破崙的歷史人物傳記，影院絕對會失去一大部分女性觀眾和情侶檔；在中國，這部在西方大放異彩的片子也很有可能夭折，而不會成為傳頌已久的愛情經典片。

其次，這個Bridge為什麼是藍橋而不是其他橋呢？藍橋取自於陝西民間傳說「藍橋相會」，講的是唐代秀才裴航沖破世俗偏見，不顧門第高低，不同流俗，執著追求績麻姑娘雲英（後來發現是仙女），通過不懈努力最終與之結成百年之好的故事。同樣是不門當戶對的愛情，藍橋相會以喜劇收尾，而影片中則以女主角在滑鐵盧橋上與列車相撞自殺身亡結束——魂斷藍橋，再貼切不過了。

我知道這部影片完全是因為師太（亦舒）的同名小說《她比煙花寂寞》，應該說，電影片名借用了小說的名字，因為小說在1996年已經出版。片名已經完全脫離英文原名，純粹是電影主題的濃縮升華，然而十分准確，直擊靈魂。光看名字，就能猜出說的大概是什麼樣的故事，看影片前大約會准備好紙巾。

師太的小說寫的是一個電影明星生前燦爛輝煌，身後卻寂寞無比，去世時候連遺產都沒人接收；而她畢生所願不過是像普通人那樣結婚生子吵鬧而庸俗的過完一生。這個平凡無奇的心願，終究沒能實現。就像煙花，綻放時璀璨奪目，背後卻是無邊的黑與寂寞。電影與之同名，其實很有道理。主人公同樣是煙花般絢爛的一生，同樣生前風光無限，對愛卻始終求而不得。求而不得，人生至苦。

影片的其他譯名有狂戀大提琴、中斷的琴聲、希拉里和傑基、希拉莉和積琪琳。所謂沒有比較，就沒有傷害。這些譯名不算錯，但都不如煙花那樣意味雋永，餘音繞梁。

《蝴蝶夢》原名《呂蓓卡》，呂蓓卡是影片中實質性的女主角——盡管一開篇她已然是個死人，但音容宛在，庄園里處處都是她的印跡。她的幽靈通過死忠女管家繼續控制著她的家、她的丈夫以及新任女主人，直至一切毀滅。對於新來的女主人，這段經歷就像一場斑斕而陰森的夢，醒來之後，只余追憶。

翻譯成蝴蝶夢當然比呂蓓卡更有魅力。對於初次接觸的觀眾而言，呂蓓卡只是一個女性的名字，除此之外，我們一無所知，且沒有浮想聯翩的慾望。蝴蝶夢，就算你不知道「庄生曉夢迷蝴蝶」，光從字面也能模糊的體驗到諸如凄美、幻滅、遺憾之類的感覺。這三個字的組合，於我而言，有著不可描述的、令人著迷的魔力。

4. 末路狂花（ Thelma & Louise ， 1991 年）

女性冒險片，這是我看到片名《末路狂花》的第一印象。影片講的是兩名在生活中循規蹈矩的失意女性——塞爾瑪與路易絲，周圍的男性沒一個好東西。某天，她們決定暫時擺脫平庸的現實，開車上路散心卻意外殺人，此後一發不可收拾，搶劫、恐嚇、射擊、飆車，從家庭主婦和餐廳女招待變成比男人更彪悍的存在。她們沖破藩籬、奔向自由的旅程，最終在科羅拉多大峽谷的懸崖上戛然而止。塞爾瑪和路易絲以年華、以生命為價，給予這個男權社會最後有力的一擊和嘲諷。

末路狂花，言簡意賅，暗含人物和結局，透著一往無前的孤勇和寧死不回的決絕。相比之下，「塞爾瑪與路易斯」、「上錯驚魂路」之類的譯名，不是平淡就是膚淺，簡直弱爆了。

5. 春風化雨（ Dead Poets Society ， 1989 年）

其實我很想把春風化雨排在第四，但因為末路狂花結尾太令人心痛和震撼，以至於覺得片名都帶著血色（果然是誰慘誰勝出么……），所以忍痛讓春風排在第五。Dead Poets Society原來譯為「死亡詩社」，乍一看我還以為是我最心水的懸疑恐怖片，看了之後才知道講的是一個老師通過言傳身教潛移默化，幫助禁錮在傳統守舊教條框框內的學生們解放思想、領悟自由與生命真諦的故事（裡面將將18歲的伊桑·霍克真是帥到憂傷）。

一直以來，外語片名的翻譯大部分都是大陸勝出（至少在以前是如此），香港譯名總是帶著濃厚的市井或江湖味，台灣的翻譯多是流於艷俗。然而在本片，台灣譯的「春風化雨」遠勝其他兩地，栩栩如生的提煉了影片主題和主角形象。對比香港譯為「暴雨驕陽」，還有「壯志驕陽」，港真，不知道是什麼鬼！

6. 綠野仙蹤（ The Wizard of OZ ， 1939 年）

這個奇幻故事稱得上家喻戶曉，很少有人不知道的。當年我看這個故事時還不懂英文呢，書名被譯為《奧茲國國王》，非常符合小孩子的審美情趣——小時候，大家不都愛聽王子公主國王王後之流的故事么。後來上大學，才看到書的電影版，立刻被「綠野仙蹤」這個名字秒到了。我相信很多人和我一樣，都被這個充滿美麗夢幻氣息的名字所吸引——這更像屬於大人的童話。綠野茫茫，仙蹤渺渺，帶著一絲中國特有的古典神話的飄逸，與西方的活潑明麗相得益彰，令人感覺深刻而鮮明。

其他譯名有「奧茲國歷險記」，也蠻恰當，就是少了點令人遐想的餘地。

7. 翠提春曉（ The Great Waltz ， 1938 年）

其實我對這類影片興趣不大。如果打出的片名是「偉大的圓舞曲」，我大概不會去看。但是，譯成「翠提春曉」，就太漂亮了！片名畫面感超強，尤其當我看到影片中長畫卷般的仙境景色時更覺得這四個字美麗：

·維也納森林中，天色將明，晨曦初露，滿目蒼翠，霞光透過枝葉射進密林，馬蹄聲敲著路面，發出優美、緩慢的「得、得、得」三拍節奏。

·朦朧晨霧中，羊群緩緩走過草地，牧羊人在牧笛上吹奏出樸素單純而又悠揚舒緩的音調。

·維也納河畔，作曲家施特勞斯所愛之人不忍破壞其家庭獨自乘船離開，輪船遠去，倩影消失在遠方，施特勞斯煢煢孑立，而粼粼碧波的岸邊是一對對幸福的情侶。

說實話，這種有婦之夫才子與紅顏才女相識恨晚相戀，原配欲大度退出成全，然而才（小）女（三）良心發現，浪（渣）子（男）回歸家庭的故事——如果不是有那麼多流芳百世的作品加持，也就是碗狗血——當然，本片的碗比較華麗。

盡管如此，我仍幸慶因為片名而去觀影——那首《當我們年輕時》，猝不及防就讓當時的我遭到了一萬點的心靈暴擊：當我們還年輕，在美妙的五月早晨，你曾說：你愛我，當我們還年輕。

五月的早晨，像朝露、像夕陽、像最珍貴的青春，美好卻易逝，唯有愛可以永不磨滅。

8. 亂世佳人（ Gone with the wind ， 1940 年）

說來慚愧，直到上高中我才拜讀了赫赫有名的《飄》，上大學才看到根據書改編的電影《亂世佳人》。一般來說，如果先讀了原著，後面再看根據其拍出的電影或電視劇，總會覺得後者不如前者——文字留給讀者的腦補空間遠遠超過具體的影像。你在看書時，你的腦海里會形成你所希望的書中的主人公的形象，書里描述的一切細節，也會帶有你根深蒂固的個人風格。但是《亂世佳人》完全沒有輸給原作，因為費雯·麗和克拉克·蓋博正是我心目中的郝思嘉和白瑞特，尤其是費雯·麗的眼睛和氣質，和書里描寫的一模一樣：「帽上長長的翠綠色飄帶映襯著她那亮綠靈動的雙眸……她是降落人間的精靈——純潔又邪惡的迷人精靈。」這大概得歸因於演員超群的演技。

Gone with the wind的中文書名譯為《飄》，電影名譯為《亂世佳人》，都非常棒。書是經典名著，書名要言簡意賅，又要具備意味深長、耐人尋味的特點。一個「飄」字道盡了英文原名和書的精髓。在大型戰爭面前，個人的命運就如同被風刮下的落葉，背井離鄉，流落四方，但最終會回到堅實的大地上。影片要賣座，就得盡可能吸引不同口味的觀眾，雅俗共賞。在艷俗的「佳人」前面放個「亂世」，立刻有了沉重和悲壯感，並且也概括了影片主要內容，真是極好的（甄嬛附體…）。相比之下，直譯為《隨風而逝》就顯得中庸且不知所雲了。

9. 廊橋遺夢（ The Bridge of Madison County ， 1994 年）

The Bridge ofMadison County譯為「廊橋遺夢」充分體現了我國文化的博大精深。一開始，我也不知道為啥將「麥迪遜橋」翻譯成「廊橋」，直到我看到影片中的橋——有頂的橋，可不就是中國的廊橋么——有房檐的橋。當然，麥迪遜的橋要比咱們精雕細刻的廊橋遜多了。「遺夢」用來形容纏綿悱惻而不能圓滿的愛情再合適不過了。廊橋與遺夢的組合絕不僅是故事發生之地與故事結局的簡單概括，它所包含的深意.....你懂的。

10. 人鬼情未了（ Ghost ， 1990 年）

與前面神作相比，其實《人鬼情未了》這個翻譯並不是那麼出彩，但是奈何隊友太坑爹啊——其他的譯名有《幽靈》以及《把妹把到鬼》——差點讓我笑出八塊腹肌。尤其是想到影片講述的是一個凄美深情的人鬼愛情時，配上這么個二貨的片名，真是很有反差萌啊~~

其他的佳作還有 風月俏佳人（ PrettyWoman ）、聞香識女人（ Scentof a Woman ）、月色撩人（ Moonstruck ）、深閨疑雲（ Suspicion ）、壯志凌雲（ Top Gum ）、出水芙蓉（ Bath Beauty ）、紅菱艷（ The Red Shoes ）等 。但於我而言，感觸都沒有前10個那麼多，就不寫啦。

這些影片最新的，距今也快有20年，感覺那時的翻譯者對作品不止於「准確」這一標准，他們把電影吃透，力求做到信、達、雅，帶給觀眾藝術般的體驗。如今不知是我看電影看少了，還是翻譯水準下降，總之，再沒有見過令我眼前一亮且怦然心動的片名了（惆悵臉）。

一、翻譯原則

二、翻譯方法

英語影視片名中譯不僅是英漢語際轉換的過程，也是中英兩種文化交流的社會現象。在文字轉化之間，要求既要緊扣影片內容，保留原名中的蘊涵信息和文化特色，又要注意選擇中文與原片名藝術最相似、最貼近、為中國觀眾所熟悉的詞語和文化意象來進行翻譯使中譯名易於為中國觀眾所接受，符合中國觀眾的審美習慣，做到「忠實性和創造性的統一」。常用的翻譯方法有音譯、直譯、意譯和變譯法等。

1、音譯法

音譯法就是按照源語的發音規則，將其直接翻譯成目的語發音相同或類似的文字語言。英語影視劇命名的特點之一就是常常採用用片中主要人物的名字或劇中有重要意義的地名、事物名等，有些影視劇是由著名的文學作品改編而成，其人名、地名早已為眾多民族所熟知，所以翻譯時可以直接採用音譯法。例如：Merlin《梅林》、Casablanca《卡薩布蘭卡》、Titanic《泰坦尼克號》等。

2、直譯法

對於影視劇片名的翻譯而言，直譯法也被稱為全譯法，指在目的語條件允許時，在目的語中既保持源語內容，又保持源語形式，特別是源語的修辭、形象和民族地方色彩等。全譯是對原文在意義上和形式上的保全行為(黃忠廉2002：21)。影視劇名的直譯分為兩種情況，一種是原標題語序，例如：Desparate Wives《絕望主婦》、True Lies《真實的謊言》、Kongfu Panda《功夫熊貓》等，另一種則必須按照目的語的特點，改變源語的詞序，如The Age of Innocence《純真年代》、 A Walk in the Clouds《雲中漫步》等。

3、意譯法

陳宏薇(1998：94)將詞語的「意譯法」定義為：譯者在受到譯語社會文化差異的局限時，不得不舍棄原文的字面意思，以求譯文與原文的內容相符合和主要語言功能相似。有時英文影視片名擁有其獨特的內在含義，直譯片名很難將其含義表達出來，在這種情況下，譯者應正確把握影視片的內容，抓住原文意義，拋棄原文形式，經典的翻譯佳作有《魂斷藍橋》。Waterloo Bridge原意是「滑鐵盧橋」，現在片名中「藍」字暗合影片中兩人相識、相愛、分手的夜晚氛圍，同時「藍」在英語中意為「憂傷」，「魂斷藍橋」四字，辭藻典雅、浪漫傷感、意境深幽，同時緊扣電影主題，是外國電影中文片名翻譯中不可逾越的巔峰之作。其它的翻譯實例有：Speed《生死時速》、Forrest Gump《阿甘正傳》、The Notebook《戀戀筆記本》、Pretty Woman《風月俏佳人》等

4、變譯法

當原片名的文化聯想不能引起目的語觀眾的共鳴時，譯者就需要根據目的語觀眾的利益和志趣，根據影片的內容進行創造性演繹，使影視片名與內容相得益彰，而且能更大幅度地吸引觀眾的注意力。許多著名影視劇片名翻譯皆採用創譯法，例如：The Great Waltz《翠堤春曉》，一部以小約翰斯特勞斯為原型的傳記電影，電影原名的意思為「偉大的圓舞曲」，片中很多愛情場景以及小約翰創作圓舞曲的靈感來自奧地利優美的自然環境，譯者為此採用了一個富有大自然風格的譯名，字面給觀眾一個充滿春天生機的浪漫場景，一對戀人正在河畔相互偎依，成為影片翻譯名中的經典。其它經典實例還包括：No Reservations《美味情緣》、Inception《盜夢空間》、The Wizard of Oz《綠野仙蹤》等。

7. 關於英語電影片名的翻譯問題

理論的話，現在比較統一的是目的論（Skopos Theory 或 Skopstheorie）。目的論主要包含四個基本規則The Skopos rule， The Coherence rule， The Fidelity rule， 以及The Loyalty principle。 結合電影片名的英譯來講，就是將電影固有英文片名以及電影內容相結合來進行翻譯，也可以看作是直譯和意譯的結合。其中主要運用的翻譯方式是歸化和異化，英文就是Domestication and foreignization。
最後補充一點，畢竟理論是通過實踐總結出來的，所以也不好說現在片名的翻譯有什麼通用理論，只能說根據翻譯成品，翻譯過程等等來講，大部分片名翻譯與某個理論相符合。
