Or the consequence of his mistake.
Like the scars of his betrayal
Oh the memory of his kiss.
So we wait for the storm to pass, hoping for the best.
Even though we know in our hearts some stains are so indelible.

Most who disclose revengeful motives marry the punishment that follows.
Only the truly repentant at any right at all expect a second chance.?

Why why why why why... I think land people waste a lot of time wondering why. Winter comes they can't wait for summer; summer comes they're living dread of winter. That's why you're never tired of travelling, with chasing some place far away, where there's always summer. That doesn't sound like a good bet to me.
「I was born on this ship, and the world passed me by, but two thousand people at a time. And there were wishes here, but never more than fit between prow and stern. You played out your happiness, but on a piano that was not infinite. I learned to live that way.
「You get me up on that gangway and you're rolling out in front of me a keyboard of millions of keys, millions and billions of keys that never end, and that's the truth, Max. That they never end. That keyboard is infinite. And if that keyboard is infinite, then on that keyboard there is no music you can play. You're sitting on the wrong bench. That's God's piano. 」
To be, or not to be: that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles,
And by opposing end them. To die: to sleep;
No more; and by a sleep to say we end
The heart-ache, and the thousand natural shocks
That flesh is heir to, 'tis a consummation
Devoutly to be wish'd. To die, to sleep;
To sleep: perchance to dream: aye, there's the rub;
For in that sleep of death what dreams may come,
When we have shuffled off this mortal coil,
Must give us pause: there's the respect
That makes calamity of so long life;
For who would bear the whips and scorns of time,
The oppressor's wrong, the proud man's contumely,
The pangs of despised love, the law's delay,
The insolence of office, and the spurns
That patient merit of the unworthy takes,
When he himself might his quietus make
With a bare bodkin? who would fardels bear,
To grunt and sweat under a weary life,
But that the dread of something after death,
The undiscover'd country from whose bourn
No traveler returns, puzzles the will,
And makes us rather bear those ills we have
Than fly to others that we know not of?
Thus conscience does make cowards of us all,
And thus the native hue of resolution
Is sicklied o'er with the pale cast of thought,
And enterprises of great pitch and moment
With this regard their currents turn awry
And lose the name of action.
to be or not to be,這是《哈姆雷特》(莎士比亞)的經典台詞. To be, or not to be- that is the question Hamlet:To be, or not to be- that is the question: Whether it's nobler in the mind to suffer The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune Or to take arms against a sea of troubles, And by opposing end them. To die- to sleep- No more; and by a sleep to say we end The heartache, and the thousand natural shocks That flesh is heir to. 'Tis a consummation Devoutly to be wish'd. To die- to sleep. Thus conscience does make cowards of us all, And thus the native hue of resolution Is sicklied o'er with the pale cast of thought, And enterprises of great pith and moment With this regard their currents turn awry And lose the name of action.
Why why why why why... I think land people waste a lot of time wondering why. Winter comes they can't wait for summer; summer comes they're living dread of winter. That's why you're never tired of travelling, with chasing some place far away, where there's always summer. That doesn't sound like a good bet to me. 「All that city. You just couldn't see the end to it. The end? Please? You please just show me where it ends? It was all very fine on that gangway. And I was grand too, in my overcoat. I cut quite a figure. And I was getting off. Guaranteed. There was no problem. It wasn't what I saw that stopped me, Max. It was what I didn't see. You understand that? What I didn't see. In all that sprawling city there was everything except an end. There was no end. What I did not see was where the whole thing came to an end. The end of the world... 」 「Take a piano. The keys begin, the keys end. You know there are eightyeight of them, nobody can tell you any different. They are not infinite. You are infinite. And on these keys the music that you can make is infinite. I like that. That I can live by. 」 「Christ! Did, did you see the streets? Just the streets… There were thousands of them! And how do you do it down there? How do you choose just one? One woman, one house, one piece of land to call your own, one landscape to look at, one way to die... 「All that world is weighing down on me, you don't even know where it comes to an end, and aren't you ever just scared of breaking apart at the thought of it? The enormity of living it? 「I was born on this ship, and the world passed me by, but two thousand people at a time. And there were wishes here, but never more than fit between prow and stern. You played out your happiness, but on a piano that was not infinite. I learned to live that way. 「Land? Land is a ship too big for me. It's a woman too beautiful; it's a voyage too long, a perfume too strong. It's a music I don't know how to make. I could never get off this ship. At best, I can step off my life. After all, I don't exist for anyone. You're an exception, Max, you're the only one who knows I'm here. You're a minority, and you better get used to it. Forgive me, my friend, but I'm not getting off.」

Benjamin Button: Sometimes we're on a collision course, and we just don't know it. Whether it's by accident or by design, there's not a thing we can do about it. A woman in Paris was on her way to go shopping, but she had forgotten her coat - went back to get it. When she had gotten her coat, the phone had rung, so she'd stopped to answer it; talked for a couple of minutes. While the woman was on the phone, Daisy was rehearsing for a performance at the Paris Opera House. And while she was rehearsing, the woman, off the phone now, had gone outside to get a taxi. Now a taxi driver had dropped off a fare earlier and had stopped to get a cup of coffee. And all the while, Daisy was rehearsing. And this cab driver, who dropped off the earlier fare; who'd stopped to get the cup of coffee, had picked up the lady who was going to shopping, and had missed getting an earlier cab. The taxi had to stop for a man crossing the street, who had left for work five minutes later than he normally did, because he forgot to set off his alarm. While that man, late for work, was crossing the street, Daisy had finished rehearsing, and was taking a shower. And while Daisy was showering, the taxi was waiting outside a boutique for the woman to pick up a package, which hadn't been wrapped yet, because the girl who was supposed to wrap it had broken up with her boyfriend the night before, and forgot. When the package was wrapped, the woman, who was back in the cab, was blocked by a delivery truck, all the while Daisy was getting dressed. The delivery truck pulled away and the taxi was able to move, while Daisy, the last to be dressed, waited for one of her friends, who had broken a shoelace. While the taxi was stopped, waiting for a traffic light, Daisy and her friend came out the back of the theater.
Benjamin Button: And if only one thing had happened differently: if that shoelace hadn't broken; or that delivery truck had moved moments earlier; or that package had been wrapped and ready, because the girl hadn't broken up with her boyfriend; or that man had set his alarm and got up five minutes earlier; or that taxi driver hadn't stopped for a cup of coffee; or that woman had remembered her coat, and got into an earlier cab, Daisy and her friend would've crossed the street, and the taxi would've driven by. But life being what it is - a series of intersecting lives and incidents, out of anyone's control - that taxi did not go by, and that driver was momentarily distracted, and that taxi hit Daisy, and her leg was crushed.
R:
Come in.
S:
Rhett...
R:
Melanie, she's...
Well, God rest her.
She was the only completely kind person I ever knew.
A great lady.
A very great lady.
So she's dead. That makes it nice for you, doesn't it?
S:
Oh, how can you say such a thing? You know how I loved her, really!
R:
No, I don't know that I do.
But at least it's to your credit that you could appreciate her at the end.
S:
Of course I appreciated her. She thought of everybody except herself.
Why, her last words were about you.
R:
What did she say?
S:
She said:
"Be kind to Capt. Butler. He loves you so."
R:
Did she say anything else?
S:
She said...
She asked me to look after Ashley, too.
R:
It's convenient to have the first wife's permission, isn't it?
S:
What do you mean?
What are you doing?
R:
I'm leaving you, my dear.
All you need now is a divorce, and your dreams of Ashley can come true.
S:
Oh, no!
No, you're wrong! Terribly wrong!
I don't want a divorce. Oh, Rhett, when I knew tonight...
when I knew I loved you, I ran home to tell you.
Oh, darling, darling...
R:
Please don't go on with this.
Leave us some dignity to remember out of our marriage. Spare us this last.
S:
This last?
Oh, Rhett, do listen to me.
I must have loved you for years, only I was such a stupid fool I didn't know it.
Please believe me. You must care.
Melly said you did.
R:
I believe you. What about Ashley Wilkes?
S:
I never really loved Ashley.
R:
You certainly gave a good imitation of it, up till this morning.
No, Scarlett. I tried everything.
If you'd only met me halfway, even when I came back from London.
S:
I was so glad to see you. I was, Rhett, but you were so nasty.
R:
And then, when you were sick and it was all my fault...
I hoped against hope that you'd call for me, but you didn't.
S:
I wanted you. I wanted you desperately, but I didn't think you wanted me.
R:
It seems we've been at cross-purposes, doesn't it? But it's no use now.
As long as there was Bonnie, there was a chance we might be happy.
I liked to think that Bonnie was you.
A little girl again, before the war and poverty had done things to you.
She was so like you, and I could pet her and spoil her as I wanted to spoil you.
But when she went, she took everything.
S:
Oh, Rhett!
Rhett, please don't say that.
I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry for everything.
R:
My darling, you're such a child.
You think that by saying, "I'm sorry," all the past can be corrected.
Here, take my handkerchief.
Never at any crisis of your life have I known you to have a handkerchief.
S:
Rhett, where are you going?
R:
I'm going to Charleston. Back where I belong.
Please. Please take me with you.
No. I'm through with everything here.
I want peace.
I want to see if somewhere there isn't something left in life of charm and grace.
Do you know what I'm talking about?
S:
No. I only know that I love you.
R:
That's your misfortune.
S:
Oh, Rhett.
Rhett!
Rhett!
If you go, where shall I go? What shall I do?
R:
Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn.
