She immediately loved it and I had to buy another for her to donate to her school as her birthday book (every child donates a book on their birthday and their picture and year is placed in the inside cover - wonderful tradition). This is a very cute story with beautiful artwork about a little witch who wants a pet. Because she is a witch, she wants the creepiest pet possible. She brings home different pets from the pet store, but returns them as they aren't exactly what she wants. ---Book Review: 「Camille」
I read the Chinese version of 「Camille」 a few years ago. At that time I was deeply moved by the main character Marguerite Gautier. 「Camille」 or 「The Lady of the Camellias」 by Alexandre Dumas, fils, is the story of Marguerite Gautier, a young courtesan, or kept woman, in Paris in the mid 1800's, and how she falls in love with a young man, Armand Duval, and then tries to escape from her questionable past. Unfortunately, it comes back to haunt her and she ends up returning to that life and dies painfully and alone, but with the knowledge that she was a noble woman at heart. When I first began to read the book, I did not care for Marguerite or her attitude or lifestyle, but as I got further into the narrative, I realized that her saucy attitude was a front to cover the lonely woman that she really was. She felt used, abused and unloved, until the gentle Armand Duval came into her life and showed her that he loved her as a person and not for what she could do for him. It must have taken great courage for Marguerite to leave the life she had lived for so long, knowing all along that it was probably too good to be true and would not last indefinitely. And it also showed that Marguerite really loved Armand Duval for she could even change herself for him.
However, happiness didn』t last for long. When M. Duval, Armand's father, came to her, pleading for her to leave Armand to save both Armand's reputation and that of his younger innocent sister, Marguerite saw a way to become pure of heart, if not in body. She felt that it was her ty, because she loved Armand so much, to do this even though it meant giving up her own happiness and hurting Armand temporarily. She reluctantly returned to her former life, knowing that some day Armand would forgive her. Sadly, she died in debt and basically alone, except for her one female friend, Julie Duprat, who helped her ring her illness. She had her journal sent to Armand after her death, explaining why she had made the choices she had. I think Dumas's last few lines about Marguerite being the exception, not the rule were quite true, and I also agreed with his view that while her lifestyle could not be condoned, we as a society assume that all of these type of women are cold and heartless, while this may not always be the case. A person can make the wrong choices in life when they are young, and try to redeem themselves, but sometimes past situations prevent them from changing their lives, even though they desperately wish to do so. This applies to both men and women in many different types of circumstances: involvement in crime; drug or alcohol abuse; gambling; prostitution; financial problems; poor marriage choices; etc. And this is the fact, which exists in the whole society.
As far as the other characters in the book, I think Marguerite was right in saying that no one truly cared about her, but only wanted something from her, the only exceptions being Armand and Julie Duprat. Of course, the Comte de G. and Comte de N. wanted her body and appearance. The Duke needed to 「wake up and smell the coffee」 and realize that she could never replace his dead daughter. If he truly cared, he could have helped her leave her lifestyle without 「keeping」 her himself. And lastly, Prudence was a blood-sucking leech who used Marguerite almost worse than the men. I also think she was jealous of the fact that Marguerite had so much more courage than herself and someone truly loved her.
Last morning, when tiding my bookshelf, I took this book out of the shelf, and a dried flower flew away from the book. However, even the God envies their beauty. It seems that beautiful women always have tragic endings. As we are normal persons, even we can see the hideousness of humanity that results in their fate of withering, we can at most ask quietly in our hearts: Where have those beautiful flowers gone? Where have they gone?

Every girl can be a princess, even though she lives in a low attic, even though she is in shabby clothes, even though she is not beautiful, nevertheless, she can be a real princess at heart.
A Little Princess is a touching novel written by Frances Hodgson Burnett—a famous novelist and dramatist. It obviously contains lots of fancied plots, but the parts it talks about creating miracles, can really reach the bottom of my heart. The book can bring me into a world that is more than reality while reading it. The extraordinary story makes me ponder a lot and gives me a deep impression that every girl can be a princess.
In my opinion, it is impossible for every rich girl to act like a well-behaved princess, but Sara, the heroine of the novel, did it! She was an imaginative little girl who had such intelligent small face and such perfect manners. Sara was a very nice girl who had a gentle, appreciative ways of saying, such as 「If you please」 「Thank you」 which was very charming. So, not only her teachers and classmates liked her, but also her servants liked her. There was a time when Sara became a poor and pitiful servant insulted by the snobbish headmaster of the school. In spite of this, she had never complained to anyone about the horrible suffering she had enred. Sara was confident, brave, optimistic and kind-hearted just like before and she had never given up her enthusiasm of life. No matter when, Sara acted like a princess, and on account of this, she had accomplished a GREat deal of miracles over and over again.
After reading this outstanding book, I was shocked by Sara, a little girl who suffered such unimaginable pain and tortures, but still had an opposite attitude towards life. What impresses me most is that Sara put on her act of being a princess when she wore thin bottom shoes, wading in the street of London. From my point of view, her spirit of being so strong-minded when she was in hard times is worth admiring.
Truly, every girl is a princess coming into common life. the 「princess」 I mean is not a princess living in the palace and being regarded as the apple of everyone』s eye. As the matter of fact, the 「princess」 is at heart. I am in the belief that every ordinary girl in the world can be a princess. The way for a girl to be a princess is quite simple. Just suppose! You can suppose yourself to be a princess, and go about your business confidently without caring how the others would treat you. If you want to have more resemblance to a princess, be more kind and try your best to help the people in need. The most important thing you are supposed to do is that to feel like a real princess at any occasion, particularly when you are involved with enormous melancholy. Do not feel the conditions you faced are extremely wretched and attempt to get rid of the feeling of hopelessness and uneasiness. The less you look like a princess, the more you need to feel like a princess at heart.
Every girl can be a princess if she can do all I mentioned, no matter she is rich, beautiful or not. To speak truthfully, I cannot do as well as Sara. However, I will exert myself on being a princess mentally.

我最喜歡的名著是《小公主》，它的作者是白涅德夫人。白涅德[（Frances Hodgson Burnett）1849—1924]曾被譽為美國最好的女作家之一。她一八四九年生於英國，四歲時父親不幸去世，家裡也變得一無所有。此後，她與母親相依為命歷盡艱辛，輾轉到美國。白涅德夫人自身的經歷讓她對生活的艱辛有著深刻的體會。同時，對幸福的生活也有著強烈的嚮往。幾乎在白涅德夫人所有的書中，自始自終縈繞著一種善良、美好的氛圍，散發著人性的光芒。白涅德夫人一生都勤奮寫作，不僅是位頗有才氣的兒童文學作家，而且還是位卓有成就的劇作家和多產的小說家。她一生著作五十多部小說與故事集。她的作品題材廣泛，構思巧妙，代表作有《小公主》、《秘密花園》、《小公子》、《高尚的夫人》等。她的書中常常流露出感傷、浪漫的色彩。而主人公往往都能在殘酷的現實考驗下，以自信、樂觀的生活態度坦然面對，能夠為了既定的目標勇往直前，百折不撓。而其中的情節往往充滿情趣和人性的光明與溫暖。
我從會讀書到現在，已經讀過了白涅德夫人的好幾部作品，尤其是《小公主》我已經不知讀了多少遍，可每重讀一次，都有一種無限的趣味和新鮮的感覺。
本故事的主角撒拉•庫爾，是一位富有的千金小姐，一位駐印度英國軍官女兒。她具有崇高的品德、純真而仁慈的心腸，行為和風度都像童話中的公主一般。可憐的撒拉自幼便死了母親，由父親一手把她養大。在她七歲的時候，她的父親萊福•庫爾為了讓她接受更好的教育，於是花了大筆的錢讓撒拉到英國一所「明貞女子模範學校」學習。
可沒想到明貞校長竟是一個虛榮心極強 ，見錢眼開的女人。那裡的女孩子們大多愛慕虛榮，嫉妒心極強。老師對待學生的態度是由學生家裡的經濟狀況決定的。因為撒拉父親的揮金如土，學校的校長和老師對撒拉百般疼愛，但是卻遭到了許多富家女學生的強烈嫉妒和排斥。
盡管很多同學不喜歡撒拉，但她還是善意地對待每一個人，因此她也交下了不少朋友，像亞美、樂蒂、蓓琪等。有人挖苦撒拉叫她「公主」，也有人喜愛撒拉叫她「公主」，久而久之，撒拉漸漸覺得自己好像是真的公主了。在學校，明貞校長為了表現她多麼喜愛撒拉，所以對她確實是千般寵愛，並且為她花費了很多錢。雖然心裡非常心痛，但一想到撒拉父親將來必定的補償，便覺得一切都值得了。
天有不測風雲，人有旦夕禍福，就在大家慶祝撒拉十一歲生日的時候，遠方傳來消息，撒拉的父親在采鑽石礦的時候被一個朋友騙了，而且得了熱病，已經去世了，並已宣告破產---沒有給撒拉留下一分錢。明貞校長氣得差點昏過去，馬上命令撒拉和其他女僕住在一起。從此撒拉過著女傭一般的生活，受盡欺凌。這些遭遇使她開始逐漸地洞澈人情冷暖。但她始終真誠待人，樂觀面對一切的苦痛。她的善良、高貴以及點石成金般使人贊嘆的想像力，使得她不論身處何地，最終都受到了人們的尊重與喜愛，就像一位真正的公主。最後他父親的朋友找到了她，原來鑽石礦不但沒有失敗，反而大獲成功，一切只是一場誤會。就這樣，撒拉丟失的幸福又重新被找了回來。
在現實生活中，我們的周圍有很多面臨各種困境的孩子，有的家裡極端貧困，有的身患重病，還有的對學習完全失去興趣…雖然大家也都懂得：經歷一番風雨後會有彩虹，但有很多人遇到困難後，便一撅不振，再也不想爬起來。而撒拉卻能以堅忍不拔的意志和勇氣，始終保持一貫的態度，勇敢樂觀地走下去，我們為什麼不能呢？我們要是遇到困難，就應該想一想撒拉，想想她所經歷的所有的艱難困苦和她在這些困難面前的自信、樂觀和永不低頭的態度，難道我們還會遇到比她所經歷的更困難的事么？
就拿我自己來說吧，我從小在家裡就嬌生慣養，家裡從來沒有什麼事需要我來操心，所以我干什麼都能推就推，能拖就拖，遇到困難馬上就想找父母解決，很少想過為父母分憂，為自己負責。心裡一直對我自己這樣說：「沒事，天塌下來還有爸媽頂著呢！」
再比如說我們班有些的同學，見爸媽來接了，把書包向他們一扔，也搞不清到底是誰剛剛上完學;回到家，父母去做飯，自己做完作業，就往沙發上一靠，看起了電視；吃完了飯，爸爸媽媽去洗碗，收拾屋子，自己坐在電腦前玩起了游戲；有時父母說他們幾句，他們就和家長頂嘴。我相信如果我們碰上像撒拉這樣的事，一定很難像她那樣勇敢面對。
所以，看了這本書之後，我感觸很深：人的一生怎麼可能永遠是一帆風順呢？如果我們現在不多多鍛煉並磨練自己，如果以後遇到挫折該怎麼辦呢？自信、樂觀、寬容、豁達，得意時不驕傲，失意時不氣餒；笑對人生，把快樂帶給自己，也帶給身邊的每一個人。為自己所設定的目標，堅持不懈，努力奮斗，相信沒有不能跨越的障礙！---這就是我在這本書里學到的
