在這部電影中也是如此，瑪德琳是那麼愛賈羅米爾，她可以為他背井離鄉，可以為他私奔，可以為他做任何事情。賈羅米爾每次出現都在操縱著瑪德琳的心，但是瑪德琳的心中是快樂的。
因為她愛賈羅米爾，因此為他做什麼，能夠為他做什麼，她都是快樂的。每一件事都是對方需要自己的一個機會，每一次見面都滿足心中自己的期待。
黑鳥看的那本小說中說：「愛人者總會渴求著能同被愛者產生一切可能的聯系，盡管這種經歷只會給他帶來痛苦。」
愛是一件痛苦的事情，瑪德琳也好，薇拉也好，沉浸在這種痛苦的喜悅中無法自拔。她們叛逆的選擇內心所向，卻又無法抵禦未知的痛苦。其實從一開始，愛人者和被愛者就處於不平等的關系，愛人者用盡心力去討好對方，希望能夠得到對方認同與同樣的回報。被愛者往往想要的只是滿足控制欲又或者是想要逃。
愛人者除了去愛與不愛外沒有別的選擇，被愛者卻有著無盡的選擇。
最終瑪德琳看透了這一切，她用盡半生來換取與賈羅米爾的平等，最終她終於贏了，拒絕了賈羅米爾。雖然如此，賈羅米爾還是用另一種狡猾的方式再次離開了她。從那一刻起，瑪德琳的世界失去了一半色彩，另一半色彩來自女兒薇拉。
當薇拉吞下超劑量的葯，隨著音樂，望著遠處的霓虹翩翩起舞時，在願望實現的那一刻，卑微到泥土的種子萌芽的瞬間放棄了這份愛。
沒有你我也能活下去，但我無法活著而不愛你。
影片的最後，瑪德琳脫下了那雙紅色的高跟鞋，放下了所有的慾望與幻想，在看透所有的一切後，接受了現實。
愛真的如此讓人痛苦嗎？
可在某一個瞬間，它就是永恆。
在瑪德琳再見到賈羅米爾的時候，她故意穿著紅色的連衣裙，故作高冷的見到他，想要擺出一副我並不需要你的姿態。可是很快，當兩個人的眼神交匯在一起時，所有的愛再次點燃，那紅色如火焰般將她吞噬。
或許這就是人們所說的宿命，又或者說是舊情未了。在一次次失望受傷後，瑪德琳依舊放不下賈羅米爾。就像是薇拉依舊放不下亨德森。
總是會有不甘心，總是會有期望和幻想，這些東西讓人們更加去確信愛一個人是正確的。即使那些都是幻象，即使所有的東西都是假的，也會騙自己去堅信會有未來，一切會好的。
愛人者善於騙自己，被愛的人善於騙別人。
在互相欺騙中，如果有一天兩個人都決定不再騙了，故事也就結束了。
或許所謂的緣盡正是如此。
作為一部音樂片，電影的配樂每首都非常的動人。是一部適合於深夜自己默默地品味的電影。
