作者電影開頭的交代和結局的交代相反，可以讓觀眾自我判斷自我在遇見困境處理問題的冷靜思考的能力。認為主角獲救的觀眾，能力要大於，認為主角沒有獲救出現幻覺的觀眾。
從整個故事來看，作者講述的是兩個觀點，一個是遇見危機人們應該如何處理問題。二個是為了符合電影題目ALL IS LOST(一切盡失)題意。
所謂一些根據一小段的旁白就能總結出這么大人生哲理的觀眾，我要說一句了，你們可以往下看，用客觀角度分析，為什麼一切盡失的結局是獲救了。
1、從作者角度，導演電影無非就是把觀眾帶迷糊了，才有收視率！觀眾一迷糊就會產生好多思想總結！本身電影就是編劇，對導演來說沒必要整個活扣結局。
2、從開頭人生感悟的旁白，開始，標注了時間7月份，和前8天，和集裝箱起因！然後開始敘述主角冷靜，智慧，勇敢的自救旅程，這才是導演想讓觀眾看的部分。因為那句旁白所涉及主角陸地上的性格生活鋪墊是沒有，所以旁白根本不是整個故事的思想，它只是主角自救過程中的一個環節。
3、時間分析，你要細致數一數主角在海上過度了幾夜。是8夜，而開頭獨白後又標注了8天前。證明那些獨白不是漂流瓶的，而是主角獲救後自己陳述漂流瓶的獨白。因為漂流瓶扔出去在海上漂8天就被人撿到的概率為0，而且還是有可能最後生死那天撿到？那概率更是0上加0了。
4、發射信號彈，被船員看到的概率至少大於0、何況遇見三次船。更何況最後也是最有效的信號，船不小心被整著火了。此時它還想著滅火，說明它心智是清晰的，求生欲是有的，此時清晰證明它的的確確看到是船。但陰差陽錯把船給整著了，反而加大了信號范圍，在黑天里加大了船員看到它的概率。
5、通常來說船經過兩次，說這塊是個航道，意味著船幾天定期就會經過這附近，作為主角敢獨自出海，又買的起遊艇的人來說，見識不會不知道這個船航道的。 從而在心裡上給了它生的希望。唯一要做的就是解決頂住飢餓和水。
6、人喝水是能存活10幾天以上的，它自製的蒸餾器，雖然水少，但白天至少是可以喝上一點的。所以又給希望。
7、它用紙點火，從而進一步證明它沒有失去理智和幻覺，在看到船的那一刻。之所以用紙，是因為之前使用信號彈無效，只有在思維清晰理智的情況下，它才會選擇更有效的方式發信號。沒想到陰差陽錯把船整著。
8、被拉之前，它呼吸吐氣了，又有了希望。奮力向上。
