二次世界大戰期間的義大利，由羅伯托·貝里尼(Roberto Benigni)飾演的小人物——基多，來到圖斯坎尼小鎮追求他的理想與愛情，全然不顧法西斯主義之下的政府管制，在這里他與小學老師阿桃拉墜入情網。
