第二天晚上，夏爾洛又來到了舞場。正當他四處尋找喬佳時，不期與吉姆相遇。吉姆遭受拉遜一擊後已失去了記憶。他看到夏爾洛，忽然記起了小木屋。他拉著夏爾洛一定要去小木屋舊址尋找金礦。夏爾洛和吉姆經過艱辛跋涉，終於來到了小木屋。他們一進屋，便卧床酣睡起來。不料，大風雪又來臨了，一夜之間把小木屋刮向懸崖邊緣。當他倆醒來時，只見屋內桌椅都翻倒在地，窗上掛滿了冰柱，房門也被冰凍住了。夏爾洛用足力氣往門上撞去，門雖撞開，但夏爾洛卻跟著沖了出去，他看到小屋已懸在半空中，幸好自己抓牢了那扇房門才沒有掉下深淵。吉姆趕來相救，而小屋卻因吉姆龐大的身軀走動而傾斜、搖晃不已。吉姆跨出後門，意外地發現原來這里就是他找到金礦的地方，他欣喜若狂，一面撿起藏在坑下的礦石吻了又吻，一面對著夏爾洛連連歡呼：「我們發財啦I我們成百萬富翁啦!」

客輪甲板上，乘客們紛紛上船。吉姆和夏爾洛都穿著漂亮的外套，戴著禮帽朝頭等艙走去。夏爾洛獨自坐在床邊默默出神：「自己希望的東西都有了，唯獨喬佳還沒有找到。」其實，喬佳也搭乘這艘客輪回家，此刻，她正兀立在三等艙的甲板上憑欄眺望。兩名攝影記者為了采訪夏爾洛的淘金經歷，有意讓他穿著那套破上衣和肥大的破褲來甲板上拍照。夏爾洛秉性好動，攝影記者要他面對鏡頭，而他仍一味地往後退去，不慎一腳踏空，整個身軀跌到中層甲板上，剛好在甲板盡頭處與喬佳相遇。兩人意外重逢，興奮異常。攝影記者連連告誡夏爾洛不要動，准備拍照，但他與喬佳都好像沒有聽見似的，兩人越談越親熱，身子也越靠越近，最後擁抱在一起，熱烈地接吻……
