這部動畫片主要寫了哪吒由於申公豹的挑撥，離家出走，下海尋找神秘人。他和小龍女結為好友，共同闖盪海底。東海至寶龍珠被盜，哪吒被龍宮誤會，被認做盜寶人。他一氣之下，大鬧龍宮，打傷龍子，與龍王結下深仇。四海龍王水淹陳塘關，哪吒為不牽累他人，毅然自殺。在女媧、太乙、小龍女的幫助下，哪吒復活，並獲得更強大的神力。他與龍王冰釋前嫌，共同對付大魔頭石磯。但是由於太過急躁，石磯溜了。
