男主人公Phil（編劇故意將主角的名字與土撥鼠的名字取得一樣）不喜歡自己的工作，也不喜歡自己的生活，更不喜歡周圍的人，甚至對自己也沒有什麼好感。導致他也成了一個不討其他人喜歡的人。一切可能就在於他那重復如一日的生活造成的。
在美國傳統的土撥鼠日（2月2日）這一天，Phil去小鎮報導土撥鼠的新聞。卻在之後發生了非常神奇的事情，就是每當他早晨醒來，都是相同的一天：永遠都是2月2日，土撥鼠日[1]！！
而當天所發生的事情，就像是錄像帶的反復播放一樣，發生在Phil身邊。
永遠都會出現相同的人，發生同樣的事情：每天起床都有同樣的電台廣播，有個人會和他搭訕，老太太會和他聊天詢問他早餐和天氣，路上遇見乞丐和賣保險的舊朋友，報導節目…………等等等。
Phil在剛開始有些混亂，面對突如其來的一切無法接受，不過，在過了一段時間之後，Phil發現自己擁有的一切會給他帶來非常多的便利，因為他可以為所欲為，無需擔心明天會受到什麼懲罰。第二天清晨還是舒舒服服的躺在自己床上，開始又一個陽光燦爛的土撥鼠日。
不過，沒過多久，他又開始厭煩這一切了，因為在什麼都如意的情況下，他卻發現唯一不能做到的竟然是取得女主角（他的同事）Rita的心，雖然他花了非常多的功夫去討好她，不過都功虧一簣。
他又開始對生活失去信心，並開始消極生活，沒想到更恐怖的是，他也無法殺死自己，就算他如何自殺，第二天一早，他都會好好的躺在床上等待著早晨的到來。
人就是這樣，在經歷了許多並置之死地以後，Phil終於大徹大悟，既然無法逃避這一切，不如好好的過這么一天吧。於是他開始改善自己的人際關系，去努力學習一切，而不單純是為了什麼目的，盡情享受生活。最後，在經歷了無數的2月2日後，他發現他的生活已完全不一樣，一年才去一次的小鎮上他認識了所有的人，並且和他們都發生了各種故事，也變成了一個廣受歡迎的好人。
在最後，改變後的Phil終於在一天之類打動了女主角Rita的心，並且共度良宵。
而在第二天起床以後，Phil發現Rita並沒有消失，而是還在他身邊，而時間也變成了2月3日。那無休止的土撥鼠日總算過去了

The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button review

"The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" is a splendidly made film based on a profoundly mistaken premise. It tells the story of a man who is old when he is born and an infant when he dies. All those around him, everyone he knows and loves, grow older in the usual way, and he passes them on the way down. As I watched the film, I became consumed by a conviction that this was simply wrong.

Let me paraphrase the oldest story I know: In the beginning, there was nothing, and then God said, "Let there be light." Everything comes after the beginning, and we all seem to share this awareness of the direction of time's arrow. There is a famous line by e.e. cummings that might seem to apply to Benjamin Button: and down he forgot as up he grew. But no, it involves the process of forgetting our youth as we grow older.

We begin a movie or novel and assume it will tell a story in chronological time. Flashbacks and flash-forwards, we understand. If it moves backward through a story (Harold Pinter's "Betrayal"), its scenes reflect a chronology seen out of order. If a day repeats itself (Harold Ramis' "Groundhog Day"), each new day begins with the hero awakening and moving forward. If time is fractured into branching paths ("Synecdoche, New York"), it is about how we attempt to control our lives. Even time-travel stories always depend on the inexorable direction of time.

Yes, you say, but Benjamin Button's story is a fantasy. I realize that. It can invent as much as it pleases. But the film's admirers speak of how deeply they were touched, what meditations it invoked. I felt instead: Life doesn't work this way. We are an observer of our passage, and so are others. It has been proposed that one reason people marry is because they desire a witness to their lives. How could we perform that act of love if we were aging in opposite directions?

The movie's premise devalues any relationship, makes futile any friendship or romance, and spits, not into the face of destiny, but backward into the maw of time. It even undermines the charm of compound interest. In the film, Benjamin (Brad Pitt) as an older man is enchanted by a younger girl (Cate Blanchett). Later in the film, when he is younger and she is older, they make love. This is presumably meant to be the emotional high point. I shuddered. No! No! What are they thinking ring sex? What fantasies apply? Does he remember her as a girl? Does she picture the old man she loved?

Pitt will of course be nominated for best actor and may deserve it because of his heroic struggle in the performance. Yes, he had to undergo much makeup, create body language and perform physically to be manipulated by computers. He portrays the Ages of Man with much skill. That goes with the territory. But how did he prepare emotionally? What exercises would the Method suggest? You can't go through life waving goodbye. He is born looking like a baby with all the infirmities old age. He grows younger, until he resembles Brad Pitt, and then a younger Brad Pitt, and then -- we do not follow him all the way as he recedes into the temporal distance.

The film was directed by David Fincher, no stranger to labyrinths ("Zodiac," "Fight Club"). The screenplay is by Eric Roth, who wrote "Forrest Gump" and reprises the same approach, by having his hero's condition determine his life experience. To say, however, that Roth "adapted" the original short story by F. Scott Fitzgerald would be putting it mildly. Fitzgerald wrote a comic farce, which Roth has made a forlorn elegy. Roth's approach makes Benjamin the size of a baby at birth. Fitzgerald sardonically but consistently goes the other way: The child is born as an old man, and grows smaller and shorter until he is finally a bottle-fed baby. Not much is said about Benjamin's mother, which is a pity, because he is 5-feet-8 at birth, and I wonder how much pushing that required.

I said the film is well-made, and so it is. The actors are the best: Taraji P. Henson, Julia Ormond, Elias Koteas, Tilda Swinton. Given the resources and talent here, quite a movie might have resulted. But it's so hard to care about this story. There is no lesson to be learned. No catharsis is possible. In Fitzgerald's version, even Benjamin himself fails to comprehend his fate. He's born as a man with a waist-length beard who can read the encyclopedia, but in childhood, plays with toys and throws temper tantrums, has to be spanked and then disappears into a wordless reverie. "Benjamin" rejects these logical consequences because, I suspect, an audience wouldn't sit still for them.

According to the oddsmakers at MovieCityNews, "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" is third among the top five favorites for best picture. It may very well win. It expends Oscar-worthy talents on an off-putting gimmick. I can't imagine many people wanting to see the movie twice. There was another film this year that isn't in the "top five," or listed among the front-runners at all, and it's a profound consideration of the process of living and aging. That's Charlie Kaufman's "Synecdoche, New York." It will be viewed and valued decades from now. You mark my words.

沒有一部影片是完美的，《土撥鼠之日》的這些小毛病並沒有否認它是一部神奇的作品。為什麼推薦大家觀看此片？不僅因為它的敘事優秀富含新意，不僅因為搞笑的台詞能讓你在新的一年元氣十足，還因為它提出了那個問題：

Then he fell in love with his colleague,he decided to change it.He started to work hard to improve himself.And finally he win the love of his colleague and changed his destiny.

We all experience that when we get up every day,we feel like we are living the same day as before.What terrify us most is that we do not have enough courage to change this.We thought that maybe we would changed this the next day,but never thingk about changing it right here,right now.

If we made a litte improvement every day,we would become what we have expect some day.Just change it today!

Groundhog Day falls on February 2 and centers on the idea of the groundhog coming out of its home to 「predict」 the weather.

Groundhog Day is not a public holiday, but it is very popular in many parts of the US. The official groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil, which was named after King Phillip, lives in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. The town has attracted thousands of visitors over the years to experience various Groundhog Day events and activities. News reporters, locals and visitors meet together on February 2 each year to await Phil』s appearance and his weather prediction. Many weather researchers questioned the groundhog』s accuracy in predicting the weather, but some of the groundhog』s fans may not agree.

But how did the groundhog get a day of his own?

Thousands of years ago, people in the area of Europe now known as Germany believed that the badger (獾) had the power to predict the coming of spring. They watched the badger to know when to plant their crops. By the time the first Germans settled in Pennsylvania they probably understood that this was not true, but the tradition continued.

However, there were not many badgers in Pennsylvania so the groundhog was used instead of the badger. The tradition is that if the groundhog sees its shadow on February 2 it will be frightened by it and will return to its home, meaning that there will be six more weeks of winter. If it does not see its shadow, then spring is on the way.

Of course, spring always arrives on or near March 21, so whether the groundhog decides to return to his home or to stay above ground, the sad fact is that people will always have to wait for at least six more weeks.

Review of 『Edge of Tomorrow』
Helmed by Doug Liman, American sci-fi film 「Edge of Tomorrow」 stars Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt. The former part of the about two-hour long film features a coward Major called William Cage (Tom Cruise) who』s forced to the front and dies hundreds of times. But he keeps getting back to consciousness at the same base that he is sent to. It』s interesting that each time he wakes up, he sees the image of Special Forces soldier Rita Vrataski (Emily Blunt). Honestly speaking, this part reminds of American comedy film 「Groundhog Day.」
However, if the film keeps repeating the seemingly pace, it would not be a blockbuster. More exciting stories happen after Cage realizes his responsibility of saving his fellow soldiers from doomed mission of being beaten by the Mimics. He, together with Vrataski, finally finds the location of Omega, brain of the Mimics and bombs it.
Besides great story and spirit of never saying no to difficulties, it』s very much worthy of pointing out that visual effects of the film are fantastic. Grand scenes of war like helicopters flying, combating with the Mimics and explosions are very impressive.
Having said this, Blunt and especially Cruise』s acting definitely helps build the comprehension and appreciation of the film. He is very adept at performing the role Cage, from a coward man scared of looking at blood to hero finally succeeding in bombing brain of the Mimics. Cruise does such a great job that even eyesight really means something in terms of development of story.
Finally, to me, music is not that an obvious effect to enhance development of the story. Take the scene of two main characters surviving from explosions for example, they are close to each other and things seem to be different under that circumstance, but there is still only silence. I wished there was music, no matter soft or what, to push forward the story.
All in all, on a scale of 0-10, I would give 「Edge of Tomorrow」 8.

由道格•里曼導演，好萊塢影星湯姆•克魯斯和艾米莉•布朗特主演的科幻動作大片《明日邊緣》在視覺沖擊力和故事構建方面都給觀眾留下了很深的印象。先說視效，超級宏大的戰爭場面（包括跟拍直升機起降、飛行，戰士列陣，戰士空中迫降等），爆破場景以及與外星人博斗的場景等，都很精彩。影片前半部分的故事框架類似於上世紀90年代喜劇片《土撥鼠的一天》。但《明日邊緣》在想像力及科技手段利用上明顯高出好幾籌。
影片在水下的結尾很有創意，也很唯美。雖然戰爭，尤其是與外星人的戰爭是我們不願意看到的，但是這種藝術的結尾，讓我感覺意味悠長，回味無情。此外，影片不僅僅是普通意義的視覺、聽覺沖擊力強的好萊塢大片，片中湯姆•克魯斯飾演的軍官威廉•凱奇從懦弱男子歷經千辛萬苦和幾百次的死亡最終被錘煉成智取外星人大腦的英雄，這一過程是很激勵人的。從這個意義上說，這是一部讓人過目不忘的片子。這種吃苦耐來的精神是我看片娛樂之外的最大收獲。
說到此，主演艾米莉•布朗特和湯姆•克魯斯的表演為影片劇情發展真實起到了至關重要的作用。尤其是湯姆•克魯斯，他對角色拿捏非常到位。一個眼神、一個動作，都傳遞出劇情發展的進度。
個人認為美中不足的是，音樂在片中推動劇情發展過程中所起的作用不是那麼顯著。
滿分10分的話，我願意給《明日邊緣》8分。
