維克多的護照和身份證件，以及移民文件都全都失去了效用，他被扣在了機場。瞬時間，維克多成了一個沒國沒家的孤立的人，他成為國際政治變化的犧牲品。在被扣在機場期間，維克多隻有兩個選擇：要麼返回祖國，可是他的國家政變後，已經不再承認辦理了移民手續的他是國民；要麼拿到有效的證件，進入移民的美國，但他的證件顯然已經失效而且再也無法補回了。
