There isnt a lot of blood, but you can still see the horrors of war and how intense it was for the soldiers and horses, as well as civilians. The Battle of the Somme scene was especially intense.

這部電影事實上是根據威廉·莎士比亞的著名喜劇「十二夜」改編過來的現代版。電影中的杜克原版叫做杜克·奧西諾，他一直喜歡著美麗的奧莉維婭(全名叫康塔絲·奧莉維婭)，但奧莉維婭卻總是無動於衷。維奧拉和她的雙胞胎哥哥在一次船隻失事中被迫分離，各自被海浪沖到了岸上(在這部電影里維奧拉是由於她在過去學校的足球隊被學校取消了，所以她為了能給繼續踢足球，便代替她哥哥到了他的學校，在那裡碰到了杜克)。維奧拉上岸之後。巧遇了杜克，並開始以西塞羅的假名為杜克工作(『西塞羅』這個名字他們在本部電影里並未使用，維奧拉為杜克工作的這個情節也被刪除了)。在發現了杜克愛著奧莉維婭的事實後，維奧拉對杜克承諾，一定會幫他追求到奧莉維婭。但結果是奧莉維婭愛上了西塞羅，也就是維奧拉假扮而成的男人。在這個時候，整部劇，或者是這部電影的喜劇高潮便隨之開始了。這部電影跟《我討厭你的十件事情》非常相似，也在不少細節方面表達了對莎士比亞名劇(諸如奧塞羅)的尊重。如果你既不喜歡看莎士比亞的古典名著，也不喜歡看他的戲劇，那這倒是一部能夠讓你在輕松氣氛中了解名著的電影。

女主角阿曼達·貝尼斯，年僅20歲，是新一代的美國青春偶像。早在10歲她就作為小童星出道，在一個周六晚上黃金時段播出的熱門青春劇《All That》中擔任主要演員，從此一炮而紅，並在該劇中一直演了4年。之後又有一系列的電視劇作品，包括為她量身定做的《Amanda Show》等等。2002年，她開始轉戰大熒幕，不過由於年齡和風格的限制，阿曼達出演的幾乎都是青春片，例如《What A Girl Wants》之類。本片中阿曼達開始想要有所突破了。她一改往日的甜美性感小女生樣，開始玩起了「假小子」的招數。不知這一招是否會為她的演技加分，讓她盡快脫離「青春花瓶」的路線，避免重蹈大多數青春偶像的覆轍。
