《魂斷藍橋》作為電影史上三大凄美不朽愛情影片之一，是一部盪氣回腸的愛情經典之作，內容雖有些傳奇化，但文藝氣息濃厚，具有甚高的催淚效果。
一輛軍車停在了滑鐵盧橋上，英軍上校羅依.克勞寧從車上走下。他從口袋裡拿出一個象牙雕的吉祥符，獨自憑欄凝視，二十年前的一段戀情如在眼前……
1917年，美國第一次世界大戰期間，倫敦。空襲警報響了，街上的人們慌亂地跑向防空洞。一群年輕姑娘在滑鐵盧橋上飛跑。忽然，其中一個的提包被碰掉了，東西灑了一地。她停下來撿，眼看就要被飛馳的馬車撞上。年輕的上尉軍官羅依.克勞寧也在滑鐵盧橋上奔跑，他及時拉了姑娘一把，躲過了馬車。羅依為姑娘撿起散落在地上東西，其中就有那個象牙吉祥符，是姑娘的珍愛之物。姑娘找不到同伴了，羅依拉著姑娘的手跑進擠滿人群的地下鐵道。在嘈雜的人群中，羅依與姑娘交談起來。姑娘名叫瑪拉，是一位芭蕾舞女演員，瑪拉對這個風流倜儻的年青軍官一見如故，向他談論起自己鍾愛的舞蹈。羅依則告訴姑娘他是來英國度假的，假期已滿，明天將赴法國前線。警報解除，羅依為瑪拉叫車趕往劇院演出，自己則去赴上司的一個無法推辭的宴會。臨走時，瑪拉將心愛的吉祥符送給了羅依：「願它能給你帶來運氣."羅依已深深愛上了這個端莊秀麗而天真的姑娘，望著瑪拉遠去，他若有所失。
羅依終於沒有去赴上司的宴會，他趕去觀看瑪拉演出的《天鵝湖》。散場後，他向後台遞了一張條，邀請瑪拉共進晚餐。紙條被劇院經理笛爾娃夫人沒收了，她嚴厲地訓斥了瑪拉。瑪拉背著經理來到燭光俱樂部。大廳內，羅依向瑪拉傾吐愛意，《一路平安》的華爾茲舞曲中兩人翩翩起舞。隨著每一聲部的演奏完畢，蠟燭一隻只熄滅，曲終，大廳沉浸在一片黑暗中。羅依與瑪拉含情相望，擁抱長吻。
翌日上午，窗外下著瀝瀝小雨，瑪拉在宿舍憑窗而望，掛念著英吉利海峽上的羅依。突然，她意外地發現羅依出現在雨中。原來因海上有水雷，羅依的部隊推遲兩天出發。羅依向瑪拉求婚，瑪拉幸福地答應了。出身貴族的蘭特謝軍團軍官結婚需獲得公爵的認可。羅依給瑪拉買了結婚戒指之後趕到了公爵的住處。雖然瑪拉出身平民，開朗的公爵還是同意了羅依的申請。羅依帶著瑪拉風風火火地辦好其他必要的手續，趕到教堂。可是，他們來晚了，依照法律，下午三點鍾後不能舉行婚禮。羅依與牧師約定，明天十一點准時再來。
當天傍晚，羅依被召回軍營，即將當新娘的瑪拉，沉浸在突如其來的幸福之中。就在她准備與女友們去劇場演出時，接到羅依的電話：部隊要提前開拔，二十分鍾後出發。瑪拉不顧一切地趕到滑鐵盧車站，火車已經起動。
瑪拉由於執意要去車站為羅伊送行而耽誤了當晚的演出，笛爾娃夫人大發雷霆，她不能容忍演員們有芭蕾舞以外的世界，她要開除瑪拉。她的好友凱蒂也因替她仗義執言而遭同樣命運。兩人失業了，一起搬到了一處廉價公寓，相依為命。
細心的羅伊寫信讓母親同瑪拉見面以便照顧瑪拉。但就在瑪拉於餐廳等候其母時，無意中從報紙上看到了羅伊的名字赫然登在陣亡名單中。此時羅伊的母親來到她面前，盡管這位貴夫人非常和藹可親，但此時的瑪拉已情緒混亂，言語無禮，不知所雲……
絕望的瑪拉承受不了這巨大的打擊，一病不起。凱蒂為了支付生活費和瑪拉的醫葯費被迫當了妓女。大病初癒的瑪拉發現了破綻，她萬分感激凱蒂的友情。羅依死了，對她來說，這個世界什麼都不重要了，她不能讓凱蒂一人負擔兩個人的生活。痊癒後，為了維持生活，瑪拉也淪為街頭應召女郎。
滑鐵盧車站。已淪為妓女的瑪拉濃妝艷抹，閃動著媚眼，招徠著走過身邊的官兵，沒人理睬她，人們都在匆忙趕路，尋找著前來迎接的親人。突然，她呆住了：一個熟悉的身影朝他走來，是羅伊，他並沒有死，他回來了！見到瑪拉，羅伊興奮得不能自持，瑪拉百感交集，嚎啕大哭。
在一家餐廳，羅依興奮地向瑪拉敘述死裡逃生的經過：他受傷失去了證件，當過德國人的戰俘，差點喪命但終於逃脫了。瑪拉靜靜地聽著……當羅依問及她的生活時，瑪拉無言以對，只是反反復復說：「要是我知道你還活著就好了。」經歷了生離死別的羅依不願再離開瑪拉一步，他馬上打電話給母親，告訴她自己要帶瑪拉回家結婚。瑪拉痛苦地回絕了羅依。羅依確信瑪拉並未異情別戀後，不容分說，把她帶往家鄉。
路上，瑪拉偎依在羅依的身旁，觀賞著蘇格蘭的田園風光，靜聽著羅依介紹著自己的家園和今後的打算，一種美好的願望在心中升起。羅依的信任和鍾情，給她帶來一絲希望，她知道自己的心靈仍是玉潔冰清的，她想候機說明一切，重新開始生活。
蘇格蘭克勞寧家。克勞寧夫人高興地迎接他們。晚上，舞會大廳燈火輝煌，瑪拉優美的舞姿最引人注目。坐席中的貴婦人們卻在竊竊私語，她們對克勞寧家將要娶一位舞蹈演員有微辭。公爵也來參加舞會，他慈愛地邀請瑪拉跳舞，交談中，他贊揚瑪拉的善良與忠誠，又告知瑪拉，克勞寧家族一向重視門第，對瑪拉是一個例外。剛剛平靜的瑪拉又陷入忐忑不安之中。

打開《玻璃鞋》那本書，阿me依書中所說的深入淺出步驟做准備：學習聲線，眼神，表情，談吐，身體語言，禮儀，以便將來晉身上層社會。
阿me展開尋找有錢人的旅程，搭乘頭等機位飛往歐洲，因為頭等機艙肯定是有錢人雲集的地方。果然，阿me遇上了阿誕(任賢齊)。兩人在歐洲度過了浪漫的假期，也許下了一生的承諾。阿me在旅途中發現傳說中的水晶玻璃鞋，可是所費不菲，阿誕許下諾言，無論如何都會將玻璃鞋及幸福送到阿me手上。
就在阿me沉醉在童話故事之中的當兒，阿誕竟然不辭而別，消失得無影無蹤。阿me除了遭遇心靈上的失落，還要承擔經濟上的損失。
阿me回到香港，被這次「失戀」深深打擊，變得自暴自棄。但一切又峰迴路轉，阿me認識了城中著名的鑽石王老五，更難得的是他還向阿me求婚。

Cinderella's story has always been a love of classic movie material, but this is Sammi Cheng and Richie Ren Ji "Summer Holiday" after the second round of cooperation, but this apparently is not as good as last time, as a harmonious, actors of their respective strength is not above 1. And the film's story is too simple, routine has nothing fresh, funny comedy part is not enough, love is not enough some warmth. As a modern fairy tale of love, the film's all really flat.
